This is powerful stuff! I don't usually read Orlibean, but since it was for my dear jackieville and I'm writing non-con as well, I thought I'd give it a go. It works (for me) in all its cruelness and because Sean is the 'victim' not the abuser. And please continue...you can't leave us hanging now?
*nods* I never write Sean as a top/Dominant, don't ask me why, cos I have no idea. But I can see that I need to write another part and I will try to do it tomorrow.
It will take the rest of his lifetime for Sean to stop looking other men in the face and wondering if they were one of the masked people there.
Sean certainly didn't seem to expect this, but yet he wasn't surprised either. One betrayal for another, yeah? I'm amazed, really, by the amount of control Orlando shows. He keeps his anger in check and lets it truly be punishment, not just a beating. The fact that he doesn't get the least bit turned on while Sean is hard after all of that really shows the intensity of Sean's offense.
I am a bit surprised that Sean maintains eye contact by staring at Orlando after all of this. I would've thought he'd have to be forced to hold his head up.
The picture I had in my mind was almost of a Greek chorus, a sort of Everyman and then I realised I had got too metaphysical but they were very much there for a reason *nods* And you are quite right, this is a well thought out and reasoned punishment and the worse of it is the mental effect rather than the pain and degradation.
Now on to the eye contact. Sean was beyond doing anything, at that point, in defiance of Orlando, not just as his Master but at the man he betrayed and that was a part of the punishment, to gaze into eyes that have always looked so loving and to see contempt - I bet that comes back to him on many a long night.
