I can visualize so many things when I read this drabble. I can see Frodo in the Tower of Cirith Ungol, and when I read this line in particular it makes me think of Samwise ministering to Frodo's physical wounds.
I love how you begin the work with He was lost and end it with he's kept the hope alive. The reader begins in the darkness and shortly finds their way into light and into hope.
So much can indeed be said with an economy of words.

I very carefully keep the identities of the You and He to myself, ergo they can be anyone. But I never thought of Frodo and Sam before.
