AWA shootings : Hundreds wounded, a dozen imoratlized

Anywho... I'm planning on doing some free private shoots at AWA to build my portfolio some more.

I usually work differently from other photographers in a couple of ways.

- If I know the series, I'll help pose you (since I'll have an understanding of the character), Otherwise I usually just change angles or move you around to interact with scenery to make a more interesting photo.

- I usually focus on composition more than costumes. In my opinion it makes for a more interesting picture, and it's hard getting away from all that crap they drilled into my head at SCAD for the sake of just taking a picture of the costume itself. I really have no interest in standing directly in front of you and repeatedly hitting the button :P So I will be running all over the place.

- My preference for pictures is daytime, outdoors. I'm not a big fan of flashes, although I use them from time to time for accents. Lighting indoors is usually poor, and uses yellow light, which means more correction in lightroom or photoshop.

- I weed pictures HEAVILY. While I may take 70+ pictures of you, I usually weed down to keepers. That's usually somewhere around 10-15 pictures that I think are the best. This keeps my development time down, cuts my workload drastically, and saves my tiny amount of remaining photobucket space.(may soon be a personal website)

- at this time I do not offer prints, hosting, or CDs of pictures. As my reputation grows, and my buisness grows as well (read as revinue) I'll probably start offering these at the con. However now, I'll just stick them in my photobucket account, post them on cosplay.com, maybe upload a few into my gallery on cosspace, and if you bug me(IE: Message me, or E-mail me) I'll send them to you.

- I will screw around and joke during the photoshoot. It gives a bit more relaxed atmosphere, and I've noticed that having a subject at ease yields much better results. So despite this being done semi-professionally, expect the shoot to be pretty unprofessional :P

- I also spend time to scout surrounding areas for photo spots. If it's local, I usually do it a week or two in advance. Otherwise it's Friday morning/afternoon that I do my rounds.

Now here's where you come in. I'm looking for 6-10 people to volunteer(I say that like your sacrificing something, not getting free pictures?) throughout the weekend(Friday-Sunday) and let me know when your available, and what you'll be wearing, with picture refence if possible.

There are a couple of panels, shoots and events I need to be in/see that I haven't received a schedule for, since AWA hasn't posted final scheduling for this year yet. So as soon as I get that, I'll go back and figure out who can go where and when. This means some people who want pictures may not make the cut, and I'm sorry for that.

Also since this is free, I suspect I'll get more than 6-10 responses, so at that point my picks will be based on costume content/group content, availability, and order in which requests are received.

Thanks for your time everybody.
