Alright let me start off by saying I don't know why, but lately been on a massive organized crime frenzy...Between playing Crackdown, Godfather, Yakuza and Scarface on various gaming systems(also located .hack: Infection Part 1 today for $5...yay! Ahem.).
But I gotta say, if you want a change from the Italian Mafia dominated cinema, go out and purchase or rent or download or whatever: The Yakuza Papers. 's a 5 movie series done in 2 years(take THAT, Hollywood) consisting of:
Battles Without Honor and Humanity
Deadly Fight In Hiroshima
Proxy War
Police Tactics
The Final Episode
So far I've just watched Battles Without Honor and Humanity, but...Damn...The reviews rate it as the Japanese version of The Godfather and...Yes, I could definitely agree. I thought it quite stunning...Okay, I've watched Battles Without Honor and Humanity(hereafter known as BWHH) a few times, cause, well...The Yakuza bein' quite a confusing organization..Major familes, minor families, oyabuns, soldiers, capos, underbosses, and with my general....ignorance and lack of exposure to Japanese names. But, seriously..If you're slightly interested in the Yakuza, enjoyed the Godfather, or you're into Asian cinema..Watch this...Yes, I may be going by just the first movie, but...I have good feeling about this. :D (And not to mention the violence is very over the top..neon red blood, people!)
What else, what else...OH! Picked up "The Godfather Returns" by Mark Winegardner...'s not the original author of The Godfather (which was Mario Puzo, by the way), but so far...'s good. 's really good. :D Want to pick up the one after it, but I don't feel like paying $40 for a book..At least, not yet. Trying to save money so I can haul ass down to Jersey to visit the babygirl. :D
But, for all those interested...I'm doing fine. I'm back in good moods, no more moping about. Right now I'm starving, but that's mainly due to the fact that the smell of beef roast and onions is all over the house. *drools*. Still excited about the coming events later this year..Still missing the girlfriend...Still excited about going to E-town in a week or so.
*Scratches his head* Other than that, can't think of anything else. Oh, planning on attempting to learn Japanese in addition to my German...What's the hurt? I get a little smarter, I know another language and it looks just THAT much better on my resumè. lol. Adios, and fuck all y'all. :D
