3: Mom. For neurotic health-related questions, general pick-me-ups and encouragement.
4: Dad. For neurotic money-related questions, impromptu counseling sessions, help in Figuring Out My Priorities, and calling just to call, which happens often.
5: Elisabeth. I always get the voicemail, but she calls back when she's out with Ralph.
6: McCarthy. Brendan earned this position recently by providing an excellent shoulder to cry on (ear to cry in?) when the spot's previous occupant left the scene. Though really, he deserved a speed dial assignment long ago.
7: Braden. Though we don't actually talk that frequently, I like to keep my personal bullshit-detector and life coach one button away.
8: Jon. My only sibling took his sweet time getting a phone, and even then was not automatically assigned a speed dial. In past months, though, he has suspended his attitude often enough to make an occasional call pleasant. The rest of the time, we communicate through texts and voicemails. (Yesterday: "Why don't you call me back, you little whore.")
