All the best wishes to our birthday boy today! :3 Always stay the same adorable, dorky and hard-working Yama-chan you've always been :3 The keyword of this interview is "adult" and so here we get to see what makes him being an adult and what, on the other side, doesn't~
"What an adult" or "What a brat" - which one do you get told a lot?
I get told overwhelmingly a lot that I'm an adult, but it's not like that it makes me particularly happy. When I was a teenager, I strangely tried to act adult-like so I might have been happy back then when told like that.
Please tell us about your recent adult-like conduct with a self-satisfied look
No one would see that from a magazine page! (laughs) (makes an incredible self-satisfied look while talking) On an occassion of celebrating the Coming-of-age ceremony of my sister, I took the whole family for dinner! Whenever our family goes eating out, we always go to family restaurants, but this time it was the first time we challenged a high-class French resttaurant! After I told them not to wear jeans, everyone was like "Is there gonna be a wedding?" and then they smartly dressed up. (laughs)
The moment when you felt that you've become an adult
I used to be really short-tempered, more than now. During work, if there's something different from what I think, I clearly say it, but that's a bit different from being angry and I really don't snap at anyone in private as well.
Part of yourself that hasn't grown up yet
If there's a thing I want, I'm not able to control myself. Even yesterday, I only went for window-shopping but somehow I ended up ordering a woollen sweater. There's something to look forward to in the beginning of spring!
The most childish thing in your room
Stuffed toys. My sister bought some when she went to an amusement park, so they gathered up and now I got about 8 of them. They are decorating my room and I sleep together with the big ones. It's really comfortable to sleep when I use a body pillow.
What age was the "rebellious age" for you?
There wasn't. I've always had a sharp-tongue and have been saying stuff like "You're so annoying!" to my parents. I have had arguments too, but I don't really think that I was a rebel. I had lots of fights with sisters. If you look at my face really well, you can see a dimple which is a scar made by my younger sister when we were small. (laughs)
What did you find delicious after becoming an adult?
Edible chrystanthemum! [jungiku] I used to hate it a lot, but now I keep putting it into sukiyaki. The other one is ordinary though, and that is wasabi.
The junior of whom you think "What an adult he is!"
He's my junior but we're the same age. Nakayama Yuma! He's enlightened and composed. When we're together, I feel free and at ease. He absolutely doesn't bad-mouth other people. I went for a meal with him on his birthday and that's when I thought how Yuma is indeed amazing! I've never heard any complaints from him, but if there's anything that would bother him I, will defintely help him!
