The movie shoot went great!!! I thought it did and, according to Russ and Jason's post, they thought so as well. Hopefully we'll get a few more of the films that have been roaming around:) It was nice to hear that we all managed to get together and "over-deliver" on what we said we could all do. It was also nice to hear that evryone thought we were really professional. It's funny, there's no "group" so to speak, but it was really exciting to be able to get together with all of my ex-Ring friends and have us all still function and behave in a professional manner and really deliver without the requirement of (or bullsh**) of a performance group. That and we all did it for free! Another reason to not have a "group".....hmmm...
Lots of thanks to Russ and Kat for the opportunity and they did a great job at getting everything organized and set up. Way to go!!
The sword fights were all kickass and Athena and Jurgo had a really neat broadsword sequence. Dave had his fire whip out for the last part and had some really spectacular fire balls come off of the end of the whip. Kevin, the still guy, got some great shots. I had some terriffic shots too, and Kevin had to have spent at least an hour doing stills for me ...I think the kiss on the cheek charmed him :) The fire poi stuff looked sooo cool! I had never really gotten to see myself do it, and it was really neat. It was also a great way to check whether my technique was correct (you can tell from the spirals). I got to fight Ken with them and that was really fun! It's kind of cool when a director asks you, "What can you do with those?" and I can answer, "Anything you want! I didn't get to do much sword work, but the fire work really made up for it. It was great to have the fire stuff well accepted since when I was in Ring Chris kind of just blew it off. Ah.. screw him anyway...I knew it was cool when people started to pay me to do it. I tried to get him involved and interested, but nooo.....just another example of how short sighted he can be.
Kevin said he would get me some of the stills so I can use them for my resume and I think I'm going to have him do some other shots too. I'm working on a partnership with another fire performer and martial artist and hopefully that will work out too. That should open up some performance opportunites for the car show and a couple of the downtown events coming up this winter. Let's hear it for working in swordfighting and fire and getting paid for it too!!!! Yeah!!! Like that would have ever happend at Ring. I'm also working on getting a few more festival gigs, but more on that later :).
Looking forward to doing ht efights out at festival again this weekend and maybe have Michelle and Tom do some street fights again. I think Dave may also be coming out, but I'm not sure. I know Ken and I are up to fight, but Margaret is leaving for Chi :( so I'm sad.
Well - I guess that's all the news that fit to print, so la, la, la.... along my merry way!
