Well if by soon I mean hopefully and in a few years...

Culf and I, both progressing on our scripts for TV series #1, have come up with TV Show #2. And we are quite excited about it. It's a four part dark comedy series which will have the possibility of more than one series, if we want to go to there. (And if anyone else wants us to.)

All we can do is ( Read more... )

I was going to do a vid for Wanted, you know, and managed to get 30 seconds in until I felt guilty for waisting my time on that when I could be working on our shows.

It's a good thing I'm loving working on these shows. We shall totally storm the BBC with them, and they shall beg us for our scripts.

It's perfectly okay to take a break from writing to work on a sure to be awesome Wanted vid. I shall allow it.

The BBC will love our shows so much that we'll get hired to work on other shows, like Doctor Who and Torchwood and the latest series of Sherlock. Right??

Hell yes for brand of angst to the masses!

I would love to see your take on Doctor Who (Torchwood can only be improved)!

It's awesome that you two are writing a tv show together. Can you just send finished scripts to the BBC and they tell you "yes" or "no"?

Oh, Doctor Who, you are my dream. Though I'd also be happy writing one of the novels for them that are for children but I read anyway.

Usually with scripts, you have to have an agent who will be able to contact the tv production companies/channels and hopefully get you meetings. Also, a lot of new writers don't get their own new show made but (somehow) get writing jobs on shows like EastEnders and Holby City, then work their way to working on better shows/creating their own shows.

I think the BBC used to/does have some sort of new writers program, where you could submit scripts and whatnot, but the last time I looked into that was ages ago and it might have changed. Also, I think it might have been for UK citizens only.

It's a complicated and frustrating process which we'll hopefully be able to navigate. The best thing would be to make a connection with someone who already works at one of the channels or production companies and could introduce us to the right people.

But we believe we can do it!
