1) I now have a four week editorial work experience placement with LoveFilm.com, otherwise known as an internship (though they don't tend to use that term over here). It starts on Monday 21 March. Hours will be 10-6 with an hour for lunch (I've never had an hour for lunch before!) and my travel expenses will be reimbursed. I get to work with the editorial department and learn how to upload things to the website, source images, etc. and later I may even get to write my own articles and stuff.
Sadly, this means I'll no longer be able to attend the London Book Fair, which I got free registration for since I'm a student, and I don't get to be a student ambassador for the next university open day. But, this is a much bigger gain overall.
2)
culf and I met Mark Gatiss. He was so lovely! I think he was surprised to see so many people asking for his autograph and picture. And he was surprised by the number of Americans there because he made a comment about it (in a nice way). I got his autograph on one of those free advertisement cards for his play "Season's Greetings" which closes on Sunday. I kind of felt bad because I haven't actually seen the play, but still, it's Mark Gatiss and he's awesome.
3) Culf and I met Benedict Cumberbatch. Oh Lord. The man is gorgeous. And he was his natural ginger self. (Gingers unite!) He appeared out of nowhere and no one was ready. But he was so, so polite and was signing everything. And his answer to anyone asking to take a picture was a happy "of course!" and not a grumpy reluctance. He must have been tired, so I really admire that he was being so nice. He even personalized every autograph he signed, this is possibly because that way it'll make it harder to sell the autographs and/or because he's that nice. I know it made me extra happy. So now, I have a signed lithograph that reads, "To Lauren, Thank You, Benedict Cumberbatch x". And a photo with him that is now my desktop wallpaper.
4) Culf and I got to watch Benedict Cumberbatch speed away on his motorbike. I don't have a thing for motorbikes. Or I should say, I didn't have a thing for motorbikes. I might now. And by might, I mean do. Especially when they involve Benedict Cumberbatch.
So, I now have pictures with both Holmes brothers and Moriarty. All I need is Lestrade and Watson, and I'll have the whole main (male) cast of Sherlock. Think that might take awhile, though. Martin Freeman's too busy being a hobbit to be in any plays. But he'll have to show up at a convention one day. Too bad my picture with Andrew Scott is awful (at least I look awful; Andrew Scott looks wonderful).
So, yeah. Yesterday was a pretty good day.
