Quick update

Busy week at work followed by a semi-busy weekend. Since I can't really discuss work, (though let's just compare the current work environment to that of the making of Apocalypse Now because that's what we're all comparing it to), let's talk about the weekend.

Saturday was good, if tiring. Had a flea market Saturday morning/afternoon which went okay. Only made about $45 but we did unload some crap. In two weeks we have a big, big outdoor flea market so we're hoping to do good business there. After all, I get half of what we make this Spring/Summer to use towards grad school! After the flea market I took a nap, and then it was our first Reading Phillies game of the season. All felt right with the world upon returning to one of, if not my favorite, ball parks. Yes, it's only a Minor League team, but Reading does own the copyright on the name "Baseballtown" and their stadium was named America's Classic Ballpark by one of the major baseball magazines (can't remember which one, though.)

Funnel cake, chili-cheese dogs, and cracker jacks were consumed as well as something called a "walking taco" which was a bag of Fritos filled with chili, cheese, and sour cream. Yes, it is as awesome as it sounds. And yes, this is why America has weight issues. But it was still awesome. The game was great, too, with good pitching on both sides. The R-Phils got the win, 4-1, making the night even better.

Oh baseball, I'm so happy to have you back. It's been a great week for baseball (well, at least if you're a Phillies fan; not so much for the Houston Astros; 0-6? Really?) I'm going to really miss baseball when I'm back in the UK. Cricket just doesn't cut it for me, and I don't consider soccer/football a sport, so...yeah. Rugby, perhaps?

Anyway, back to work tomorrow. This is actually supposed to be my last week. Whether it is or not remains to be seen. I was contracted for just 6 weeks, but UPC has been fighting to keep on longer, hoping till the end of April at least. Nothing to do with job performance, just budget constraints. We'll see what happens. Either way, I think I'll be happy. If I do get extended, I get a steady paycheck for a few more weeks. If I don't, I get to sleep, and catch up on my own life again, and not deal with the absolute insanity of the line producer and 2nd AD. So, yeah. Happy either way. Plus, UPC has mentioned there are some more films coming into the area this summer, and he's already told me he'd love to bring me on something, even if it's only for a short while since I'm leaving for grad school.

Speaking of grad school, got my new, renewed passport this week, so that's all taken care of. Yay! And Kingston received my FAFSA info electronically, something which they couldn't do in years previous, so I don't need to worry about sending them a hard copy.

Also speaking of grad school, now considering heading to Norway first to spend a few days/week with culf  before we all head over to Kingston together. Price wise, it's actually cheaper for me to fly to Norway and then London, and then back home in December, than it is for me to fly straight to London and back. All that really concerns me is if UK immigration will give me a hard time since I'm not coming directly from my home country.

Better sleep now. At least one more 70 hour week ahead of me.

flea market master, culf is the evil one, let's go phils!, filmses iz serious bizness, grad school is for cool people, work
