I love photography -- that's a given. But I could never pinpoint
exactly what I liked to do. Studiowork, like the ones you see in
magazines, impressed me. Artistic styles and techniques flew over my
head. Jealously, I stared and squinted and studied model makeup, studio
lighting techniques, filters, backdrop choices, photoshop secrets...all
to no avail. I'd frustrated the heck out of myself.
Now I've finally discovered what makes me most happy.
I am a finder of images, not a maker.
The studio is not for me. Neither are the lights, the posed models, the
post-shoot fixing. The world outside, with its candor and simple
unpretentious beauty -- the old man playing harmonica while waiting, the child amusing herself with a
rubber band, the shadows on the wall -- this is the place for me.
