My computer is now fixed. Or at least for the time being. Thanks to the wonderful work of Jimmy, I was able to get some headway into the thing.
So, for those that are more tech abled... everytime that I connected to the interenet, I was getting an error of "dll being run as an App", then the blue screen of death. What Jimmy suggested, and I eventually did.... was to get the microsoft service pack, to update (or down-date.. as the case is.. since I am usually up to date with windows patch updates) my dlls.
Mind you... this took pretty much the whole day to figure out. This is what bugs me. Compared to your Average-Joe, I'm not really THAT bad at computers. Ok, so I didn't know what a dll file did before, but I now have a pretty good idea. I have two computers and a wealth of geeky friends at my disposal, and the whole process still took me WAY too long to fix. How do normal people use this shit?
So I downloaded the service packs, which wasn't as simple as it sounds. Microsoft.com is an insanely slow site. I have a feeling that this is because they are inundated with people trying to protect from the sasser virus, but I don't give a shit. They are the biggest computer company in the world... surely they must be getting ready for high demands on their sites. It took me about one hour to follow the links to the service pack download... and I have a very fast connection. I have a feeling that it would have timed out on dialup.
So I had to use my sister's computer to find all this crap, which I would assume a normal user wouldn't have facility to (another computer... not my sisters.. ofcourse). Then you download the "service pack', which is really just a 2 MB exe that downloads the pack for you.
So...... it meant that I had to download this silly little file, then put it on my computer, and connect the internet up JUST LONG ENOUGH to download the 50MB pack. This took a couple of tries, because often, half way through the download, the blue screen of death would come up and foil my plans.
But everything is stable now.
Having said that, I have assignements coming out of my ass... and I have very little time to do them. With work, computer fucking up, mother leaving and builder workign on my bathroom... I have exactly NO time to get assignments done.
I'm stressed, and I'm tired.
