IC INFORMATION
NAME: Heero Yuy
SERIES: Gundam Wing
CANON POINT: Post Endless Walts but Pre-Preventers
HISTORY: Before declaring war during A.C 195, Five scientists trained five young boys to take on the responsibility of fighting for the colonies. They were each given a Gundam, a mobile suit claimed to be indestructible. Heero Yuy is one of those boys. His name isn't actually Heero Yuy. He originally was nameless, having no memories of his life before a man named Odin took him in. His first documented appearance, is at the age of seven. He's seen with a man named Odin Lowe, a former OZ member and the professional hitman who killed the original Heero Yuy (the politician). In addition to protecting the nameless boy ( and saving himself an alibi for the police), Lowe taught him how to survive on his own and how to handle a gun. In AC 188, the pair went to the colony L3-X18999 on a mission to assassinate the Alliance's General Septum. It was during this mission that Odin told the nameless boy that he was leaving him on the unfinished colony. After the mission, he wanted Heero to go to school and have a normal life. Heero then pointed his gun at the older man, declaring that he would make his own decisions. While Odin handled the assassination, the young boy was left to aid the rebels who had clashed with the Specials. Taking an RPG, he attempted to destroy the communications tower, which was operated by a 12 year old Lucrezia Noin. He wasn't able to carry out his mission though, as Instructor Treize moved his leo in the way to protect the tower. Even though he protected Noin, he was badly injured in the process. Escaping, the young boy ran to find Odin Lowe. He soon found him fatally wounded. As he died, he told Heero to live by his emotions, reminding him it only takes one foolish person to change the world.
Heero Yuy was left alone and wandering the colony until Doctor J found him. He commented him on his eyes and then proposed a job. He offered him the change to be a gundam pilot and free the colonies. Lowe's words ran through Heero's mind as he accepted the offer.
In AC 191, a young Japanese boy (under the codename Alpha Dog) greatly resembling Lowe's young ward appeared at the Saint Gabriel Academy in the Sanc Kingdom. There, he encountered a young Relena Peacecraft and assisted in an anti-Alliance attack. Even though there was doubt on if it was the same boy or not, the likeliness was high.
In AC 194, the same boy (Heero Yuy) was assigned to destroy an Alliance base on a colony. He took time to relax after planting the bombs, a plan already running through his head to destroy it that night. While relaxing in the park, he met a young girl walking her dog. Even though he didn't speak much, the little girl befriended him without a second thought. She then gave him a yellow flower before she left. That night when he triggered the explosives, a Leo fell onto an apartment building, crushing it before exploding. As he investigated, he found the young girl's dead dog, no doubt knowing she died too. He buried both of them out of remorse, only to have Dekim Barton ordering Doctor J to retrain Heero. He said that emotions would be detriment to a "weapon".
"This is war! It is no big deal sacraficing the general public, got it? Now retrain him at once. The humane feeling of kindness is unnecessary for our weapon."
Whether Heero was retrained or not, is unknown. This incident did leave him with a great sense of self-loathing and remorse. It explains Heero's way of displaying little to no emotion.
Before Operation: Meteor, word leaked that Vice Foreign Minister Darlian had learned about the plan. The Barton Foundation (ones responsible for Operation: Meteor) sent a team to assassinate him. Doctor J offered Heero three choices: Aid the assassination, Stop it, or ignore the whole thing. With the thoughts on stopping the attempt, saving Darlian's life. Later on, he visited the makeshift graves only to be informed by Doctor J that they indeed would be carrying out Operation: Meteor as Dekim said to. Three more options were given: Go along with the genocidal plan, Kill J and runn away, or change the plan.
On April 7, AC 195, the young Japanese boy climbed out of the cockpit of Wing, his own Gundam mobile suit, intent on carrying out his own Operation: Meteor. As he left, Doctor J gave him a codename. He dubbed the young one as Heero Yuy, and sent him off to Earth to free the colonies just as his namesake had once intended.
As Wing entered Earth's atmosphere, Heero caught sight of a civilian shuttle in his way carrying Vice Foreign Minister Darlian and his daughter Relena. After a few minutes of contemplating the destruction of the shuttle, he was interrupted by an Alliance patrol squadron, led by Zechs Merquise, OZ's ace pilot. After quite a battle through Earth's atmosphere, Zechs managed to get his Leo close enough to grapple with Wing as they were free falling towards the ocean, escaping in time. Heero's unconscious body was found washed up on the beach by Relena. He soon escaped from the girl and medics that arrived to help him. Afterward, he enrolled into the Saint Gabriel Academy as his cover. Believe it or not, Relena also attended there. She attempted to invite him to her birthday, only to have the invitation torn up in her face. Just as he was walking away, he wiped a tear from her eye and then told her he would kill her.
Heero planned on destroying Wing before anybody from OZ found it. He broke into one of the Alliance's naval bases, preparing several torpedoes to destroy it. However, later distractions were made by Relena at first and then by Duo Maxwell, another Gundam pilot who found Whing and intended on keeping it for spare parts. Duo shot Heero once when he saw him pointing a gun at Relena, intent on saving her from him. When Heero dove for his gun, he was shot a second time. Relena dismissed the other pilot, running to try and tie off Heero's wounds. When Deathscythe emerged from the sea with Wing attached to it, Heero ran to activate the torpedoes. He was knocked unconscious from it, being taken to an Alliance hospital under guard. Duo broke him out but as they jumped from the building to escape, Heero didn't release his parachute, intent on committing suicide. Relena had been in the building, wanting to see Heero but once she saw him free falling possibly to his death, she called out to him. That finally caused him to open the chute, saving him but he broke his leg from releasing the chute too late. He later managed to set it back manually, much to Duo's disgust, and retrieved his gundam.
Vice Foreign Minister Darlian was later assassinated by OZ for supporting colonial independence. Relena was labeled as a potential risk and marked for death. Doctor J rescued her, also telling her about Heero and his mission. She returned to Earth in time for a party at the school, where she confronted Heero and told him about what she learned from Doctor J, saying she supported him and no longer needed to be seen as a threat. OZ sent a mobile suit team to attack the school with the intent on killing Relena. Relena didn't run from the attack, staring at them in shock as pieces of the school fell toward her. Heero blocked them with Wing's shield, in shock that he actually did it. He tried to strike her with the shield as well to kill her, only to find that he couldn't bring himself to do it. He turned to drive away the mobile suits before running away himself, still stunned that he couldn't kill her, but actually saved her life.
Heero later found out of an OZ meeting at the New Edwards base in California, although not knowing it was actually an Alliance peace conference aimed at better relations with the colonies. With Duo as his back up, the pair met up with two more gundam pilots, Trowa Barton and Quatre Raberba Winner. As they fought, a shuttle bearing OZ markings attempted to flee. Heero flew up to it with Wing and destroyed it. Unfortunately, it was a set up made by OZ's leader, Treize. He'd lent his shuttle to the Alliance's pacifists for their evacuation, including Field Marshall Noventa, who'd been urging for peace with the colonies. In reaction to it, General Septum, a hot head and radical Alliance general, declared war with the colonies.
After hearing the news from Chang Wufei, the last gundam pilot, about the truth, Heero was stunned. He became consumed by feeligns of guilt and was unable to fight back against OZ's Leos, forcing Duo and Quatre to protect him. Heero's mental state returned to normal when he heard from Sally Po that OZ was planning to detonate all the missiles at the New Edwards base to destroy everything in one stroke. Heero took Wing to enter the missile silo complex and disarmed the missile that was to trigger the others.
Later on, Doctor J informed Heero that OZ was transporting its new Taurus model and he chose to attack the air route, the same as Trowa. Duo and Quatre attacked the land route, which was used as a decoy. During the battle, Heero encountered Zechs, who was testing out his new Tallgeese against Wing. Lady Une soon interrupted their battle, threatening to use the Alliance's missile satellites to attack the colonies unless the Gundams surrendered. Doctor J broke through the transmission, offering his surrender but not the Gundams. Under orders, that was Heero's cue to activate the suit's self-detonation device while standing outside of the cockpit, destroying Wing and nearly killing himself. Trowa recovered him and for a whole month, sat nursing him back to health. After his recovery, Heero sought penance for killing the Alliance members by tracking down their families and offering them to let them kill him as payback. During this course, Heero and Trowa were met by Noin, who carried an offer from Zechs.
The two traveled to OZ's Antarctica Base with Noin, where Zechs had been rebuilding Wing in secret. His reason: to get the duel he had been denied by Une's intervention. Heero agreed, but said he'd use Trowa's Heavyarms instead; feeling that using the rebuilt Wing would make him feel beholden to Zechs and affect his fighting. They both dueled only to be interrupted once again, by Relena this time, who had a letter from Noventa's wife, urging the boy not to be so careless with his life. In this confrontation, it was revealed that Zechs was actually Relena's older brother, Milliardo Peacecraft. Trowa arrived in Wing, saying that OZ's pursuit team was on the way. Zechs offered to cover everyone's escape, shouldering the blame himself.
After all of this, OZ began making a play for the colonies. By acting friendlier than the harsh Alliance, the organization won many supporters and succeeded in turning colonial sentiment against the Gundams. Abandoning Wing on Earth due to its inability of any use in space, Heero flew to space to fight OZ there and had attended a school under Duo's name for his cover, as his code name would only attract more attention to himself. Learning that Duo had been captured, he broke into an OZ base to kill the other, but instead decided to rescue him. Shortly thereafter, Heero learned that the Gundam engineers had been captured and were on the Lunar Base, building new machines for OZ. He went there to deal with the Doctors, but was captured by Trowa, who had entered OZ as a cadet to spy on them.
Recognizing Heero's skill, OZ set him to work piloting the mobile suit Mercurius, with Trowa in the Vayeate to make sure he didn't try anything. A short while after, a new Gundam began destroying the colonies seemingly at random. OZ dispatched Heero and Trowa to deal with it. They learned that the gundam was Wing Zero and it was piloted by Quatre. Distraught over his father's death and his mental stability affected by the ZERO System, Quatre had decided to destroy the colonies for their betrayal. During the battle, Trowa took an attack that would have killed Heero, destroying the Vayeate. Taking advantage of the distraction, Heero managed to capture Quatre, only for OZ to grab them both as well as Wing Zero. OZ had the boys test the ZERO System, but the effects made Heero rampage through their base until Quatre commandeered Mercurius and managed to stop him. The two went back to Earth after escaping OZ.
When they arrived on Earth, they learned that OZ had put a bounty on their heads. Remaining with former Alliance members, Heero initially resisted Quatre's suggestions to go to the pacifist Sanc Kingdom. Instead, he left Quatre and signed up with a group of mercenaries fighting OZ, using his position as a Gundam pilot to gain their trust. However, OZ had just deployed the new Virgo mobile doll, and Heero found himself facing death more than once. He was saved by the intervention of both Quatre and Noin, the latter delivering Wing's buster rifle and asked them to come to the Sanc Kingdom. Finally relenting, Heero agreed and headed to a reunion with Relena, the nations sovereign, where his gundam was kept.
Though he remained at the Sanc Kingdom, Heero was averse to the nation's ideals, as he made plain to Relena on at least one occasion. Behind the young princess' back, Lucrezia Noin convinced Heero to protect the nation as part of an underground defense force, consisting of Wing and several Taurus. After saving Relena's life from an OZ ambush, she agreed to allow the defense force, but tried to keep Heero from leaving by making him promise not to go searching for battles. Heero agreed and remained at the Sanc Kingdom for a while, using Wing to defend the nation. A few months later, he broke his word when he learned that Treize Khushrenada was under house arrest at his mansion in Luxembourg. Upon arriving, Heero destroyed several Virgos with Wing, but eventually found himself outnumbered and his Gundam was soon after disabled. Receiving a message from Treize, he abandoned Wing for the last time and entered the mansion. After their first face to face meeting, Treize gave Heero a new mobile suit, the gundam Epyon, with which to determine his own path in life. Unfortunately, Epyon's ZERO System proved too much for Heero to handle, often driving him to the verge of berserker frenzies. When OZ launched its final attack on the Sanc Kingdom, Heero continued fighting even after Relena surrendered and formally dissolved the nation. After that, Heero encountered Zechs, who was piloting Wing Zero. The two gundams' ZERO Systems drove their pilots to battle until they collapsed from the mental overload caused by their ZERO Systems. Having a brief conversation, the pair agreed to exchange gundams, putting Wing Zero back into Heero's hands.
As the space-borne rebels called White Fang rose to power, Heero attempted to assassinate Relena, who had become Romefeller's chief representative. However, after Relena's speech about her plans to change Romefeller into a peaceful World Nation, Heero chose to spare Relena and giver her a chance to do so. Heero then headed back to space with Sally Po and met up with Peacemillion, the spaceship designed by the doctors who created the Gundams. Achieving mastery of the ZERO System, Heero loaned it out to Wufei and Trowa, giving the former the conviction to join the other Gundam pilots and restoring the latter's memories when the two of them utilized it. When White Fang began using the ZERO System to coordinate its mobile doll forces, Heero had a portion of the ZERO System copied and installed into Quatre's Sandrock gundam, enhancing his leadership skills with the system's abilities.
After Duo learned that Relena was being held prisoner on White Fang's space station Libra, Heero infiltrated the ship to rescue her. The two encountered Zechs, but were unable to convince him to stop his plans. As he prepared to head into the final battle, Heero promised Relena that he would live through the war, and return to her. Heero immediately went after Zechs, and the two engaged in a duel that spanned Libra's airspace and the station's interior. Though both Gundam's received heavy damage, Heero came out on top as word of the peace agreement came to theme, Heero was given the opportunity to finish off Zechs once and for all but didn't as he said 'Relena would be sad.' With that he left Zechs to destroy Libra's main power system. Unfortunately, Libra had been set on a collision course with Earth. Flying into the upper atmosphere, Heero used Wing Zero's twin buster rifle to destroy a massive falling chunk of the Libra and bring the war to an end. This was a significant event for another reason besides the fate of the Earth. During the entire war, Heero didn't care whether he lived or died; he only cared about the mission at hand. However, while he was descending into the atmosphere with his beam Rifle pointed at the Libra, he proclaims that he will survive. This shows that his time with Relena has given him a will to live and something to protect. While he may never show his feelings anytime soon, it would seem that he still has them.
In the spring of AC 196, Heero Yuy has apparently taken on a normal civilian life and enrolled in school on the colonies. However, he was approached by two men in suits who wanted to buy both Wing Zero and his services as a pilot for "the coming conflict". Realizing that this was not an isolated incident, Heero began an investigation. He learned that the people who approached him were former White Fang soldiers who wanted to start another war with Earth. After bombing a conference full of representatives, White Fang attempted an assassination on Relena, the leading figure in the peace process. However, Heero rushed to her aid and thwarted the assassins. Taking Relena and her aid Chris Marley along, Heero met up with the other gundam pilots and hid out at an abandoned colony. After driving off White Fang's attempted invasion and securing Relena, Heero confronted Chris with the fact that she was a White Fang spy. Heero then revealed that the new White Fang leader, Commander Sogran, had ulterior motives. He, Trowa, and the White Fang member Ralph Kurt confronted Sogran, who revealed that he simply wanted to sell the gundams to a mobile suit manufacturer, and didn't care about the "brainless masses" of White Fang. Then it was revealed that Slogran's message was sent throughout the base, telling White Fang members of his deceit. Leaving Sogran to their mercies, Heero and the other pilots went their separate ways, returning to their lives until they were to meet up again.
That summer, Heero and Duo decided to help Relena's movement towards total disarmament. While she investigated former weapons manufacturers, the two pilots sneaked into their bases, searching for hidden mobile suit construction lines. However, with the notion that OZ's lost mobile doll plant might not be a rumor, Heero decided to investigate further. His first act was to speak with Dorothy Catalonia, who as the granddaughter of Romefeller's chief representative, would be a privy to any such knowledge. Initially, Dorothy coyly pretended not to know anything and offered to let Heero spend the night at her mansion. The next morning, she revealed that she had invited Relena along, hoping to spark a romantic meeting. However, both Heero and Relena were more concerned with Vulkanus, so Dorothy gave them the only information she had on it and allowed them the use of her database. While they worked, Relena offered Heero a position with Preventer, but he declined, citing his desire to work alone. Eventually, they managed to discover Vulkanus' orbit and with Relena's help, he returned to space. With Wing Zero's high speed booster to catch up with the other pilots, Heero arrived just in time to help fight off the Perfect Peace People, who used the OZ-16MSX-D Scorpio. Wing Zero finished off Scorpio, and when Quatre proposed his idea of destroying the Gundams by sending them into the sun, Heero agreed.
December 24, AC 196 - Quatre carried out the plan to destroy the gundams by sending them, with Vulkanus, into the sun. All except for Altron, Wufei's gundam, was sent. In the meantime, Heero continued to look out for Relena from the shadows. His investigation into the colony X18999 quickly let him learn that she had been captured, and he enlisted Duo's aid in the rescue attempt.
Infiltrating the colony, Heero's Leo came across Wufei's Altron. Unfortunately, Wufei was working for the people who kidnapped Relena. Meanwhile, Trowa attacked Duo with a Serpent Custom, being previously captured by Wufei. Heero fought his best against Wufei but with the decades-old Leo, he was unable to hold up to a modern Gundam, and the Leo was defeated. Heero demanded that Wufei self destruct his gundam, and around that time, Trowa had launched two missiles in Duo's direction, which created a haze that covered the corridor Wufei and Heero were in, giving Heero the opportune moment to escape.
Heero and Duo found that they were too late to save Relena, but learned that the coup was being carried out by their former boss Dekim Barton, who wanted to drop the colony on Earth as part of a renewed Operation: Meteor. Rushing to prevent its fall, Trowa reveals that he was only pretending to support them, and the trio were able to stabilize the colony. After getting word from Quatre that the gundams were safe, Heero devised an escape plan by pretending to be unconscious. Taking a shuttle, he met with Wing Zero in space and hurried to Earth to rescue Relena.
However, his path was blocked by Wufei and a battle from space to Earth ensued. Feeling that the battle was pointless, Heero barely fought back and eventually allowed Wing Zero to plunge into the ocean, asking Wufei to reconsider his actions. Knocked unconscious in the fall, Heero was woken up by Wing Zero, which told him that he still had a mission to accomplish. Flying to Brussels, Heero used Wing Zero's signature twin buster rifle to heavily damage Dekim's shelter with precise accuracy. Yet, Zero's own weapon was too powerful and the already damaged Gundam could not sustain the recoil of the third shot, therefore resulting in its destruction. Battered and exhausted, Heero entered the shattered base, only to collapse into Relena's arms shortly after vowing never to kill again. As the world moved towards peace and mobile suits were eliminated for good, Heero continued to watch over Relena as a bodyguard as he began living his life free from war and violence. Heero goes with the other four pilots to Mars with the intention of helping with the teraforming project, as a preventer officer.
PERSONALITY: Heero is a complicated person to understand. At first, he comes off with a cold, business-like demeanor. Which seems to be weird for being a young 15 year old battle hardened veteran. Even at the young age of seven, he gave off this same demeanor. Though, he seemed to find the ease of smiling easier at that time. He's a self-sacrificing person, ready to give his life if the mission called for it. He won't hesitate to throw himself in front of someone, ready to take whatever was thrown at them. He carries a lot of grief and remorse for his actions, especially the ones where he killed innocents that were not in his information. His self-sacrificing attitude seems to stem from this.
When Relena (a girl who seemed to like to stalk him) met with Doctor J, she found out that Heero is actually a very kind-hearted young man who just keeps his emotions reined in while fighting. Which would explain his multiple threats on her life. While he may not want to kill her, he would if she endangered his mission.
Heero doesn't talk too much, only talking when he feels the need to put in his opinion. Which usually sounds like something a computer would say. He's very short and to the point, not seeing the point in drifting around a subject for too long. Because of this, he's been told that he's anti-social. Which, is probably true. He prefers to be alone most of the time, though he wouldn't mind being around others if he needed to be.
On several occations, Heero espouses the philosophy that being emotionl on the battlefield will only result in heartbreak, so a lesson to the soldiers is that they need to fight without caring about their opponents. However, he believes that there's nothign wrong with the emotions showing in everyday situations. The most important philosophy in Heero's life, is the one his mentor, Odin Lowe, espouses: That the best way to live life is by one's emotions, a philosophy he later shared with Trowa Barton, a fellow Gundam pilot. But it seems to contradict his own advice since he tends to not follow it personally. The young Japanese boy is the most skilled and focused in combat out of all the pilots, both in mobile suits and hand to hand combat, which show's he's a great assest and quite deadly if he is reckoned with.
WEAPONS/ABILITIES/ETC: Canonly, its said that Doctor J experimented on him. From the experiments, he gained the ability to heal faster than others and also 'super-human' strength. An example of that would be him bending steel bars to stop the missiles on the New Edwards base in episode 8; The Treize Assassination. He also carries around to what looks to be a 9mm pistol. (Though don't hold me to this slkdjfa I'm not too sure on the calibur. Just that it's a pistol).
