Liam duffed up by nerds
From ALLAN HALL in Berlin

THE "mafia" gang who beat up Oasis hardman Liam Gallagher in a club were actually four estate agents and a computer nerd, cops revealed yesterday.

Drunken Liam, 31, lost his front teeth in the Wild West-style brawl at a German hotel. Two of his minders were knocked out.

It also emerged yesterday that the fight began after the singer and his pals flicked PEANUTS at the five men.

Police at first indicated the musician had mistakenly picked on mafia-linked pimps - whose table was booked under the name of a notorious local villain.

But Munich's chief prosecutor Anton Winkler yesterday confirmed the five had no mob connections - and that one sells computers.

Cops did not give the full names of the five, aged 32 to 38.

But their leader - muscular Christian W, 38 - is said to have floored two Oasis bodyguards with a brass standing ashtray.

Now the businessmen are likely to be charged with GBH over the fight, which saw much of the nightspot's furniture smashed.

Liam, who at one point stood on the club's stage swinging a microphone stand like a battleaxe, could also face proceedings, said Mr Winkler.

The prosecutor added: "He was the worst one. He assaulted a police officer who was trying to pull others apart.

"If proceedings are brought he could face a fine or a suspended sentence. A decision will be made shortly."

Mr Winkler said tests showed Liam, who was arrested, was drunk and had used cocaine - although no cocaine was found on him.

Other band members are also under investigation and could be summonsed.

Liam, who was said to have kicked a policeman between the legs, was in the club with Allen White, Steven Allen and Philip Bevan Smith in December 2002.

They are said to have started the battle after Liam was ordered to stop performing a drunken karaoke version of an Oasis hit.

The band's German tour was cancelled and Liam had emergency dental treatment.
