revised
i drove 3 hours to dallas to see brandtson at the door last night and then i drove 3 hours back to be at home at 2:30 AM. it was worth it. they mostly played songs from their newest album which i like but i like the older stuff way better. they even played a cover of "cry me a river". lusciouslaura swooned at that. i kinda harassed this kid there. i saw that he only knew the words to the new songs so i asked him if he was a new fan and i think i made him uncomfortable. oh well. my curiosity got to me. and so did my music nazism. he talked about relient k and he wore a switchfoot shirt. those kind of Christian bands bother me. a lot. who knows, they might actually be happy. but i think by only making "happy" music, they're faking people out. life isn't always happy and sunny. life isn't always easy and predictable. we struggle with problems, thoughts, and actions. we get sad and feel defeated sometimes. also, i think it makes it to where Christianity is portrayed in a negative light because life as a Christian isn't always sunny, upbeat, or happy all of the time. so, because of the "fakeness", people turn away. that's why i like bands like stavesacre and brandtson, they portray the darker side of life as well as the happy one. although, brandtson is becoming more happy and upbeat like in death & taxes. i really liked it though. anyway, those are my 2 cents. take them for what you want.
but i told this new fan about how brandtson has always been good to me, especially when resigning all of the CDs i rebought that had been stolen in dec 2003. so the new fan wanted me to ask matt, the guitarist, if he remembered me. he sure did but didn't remember my name which is fine by me. i also talked to john, who is the nicest guy. he's my new glasses buddy. we have the same ones. awesome! he also remembered me because i always come up and talk to him at the texas shows. and i always mention katinsicmon -- i got some awesome pictures of your husband so i'll post them soon for ya! :) i showed myk and john my "brave hearted girl" bag and i really wanted them to sign it. but i didn't have a silver sharpy so i will just get them to sign it next time they come around.
anyway, great show although not many showed up which i was bummed about because brandtson is so great. more people should know about them. i'll have to start getting their name out there again like i did last semester.
