Weekend Update
So I've been working now for about 3 weeks. Got my first full paycheck today! I've been orienting all over the place, I have 4 more days of orientation before I am on my own. I have been working in the detox unit and it is challenging, but I like it so far. I had 5 patients today, and was running around like a chicken with my head cut off! The shifts go quickly though, and they are 8's, so I am tired, but not burnt when I get done. I will be working a couple night shifts next week, (hello shift differential! ;) ). I will largely be a day shift girl though, and full time, so I will be doing pretty well.
I am going to go shopping this weekend, I need new scrubs (I only have a couple sets from before nursing school that still fit me. I need new shoes (NOT WHITE SHOES!!! :P ). I also need to get a few odds n ends (lingerie, and such)... I need to get some stuff for the teenager, and I am planning to get an HD Nook as my splurge. :) I am lucky enough to have both Saturday and Sunday off, going to meet up with one of my nursing school buddies for lunch tomorrow, might go see a movie, etc. I have a lot of crap to cram in, not sure if I will manage it all. Gonna try though, because my next day off will be Friday, then not off again until Tuesday.
I like it so far, everyone's been super nice and telling me how well I'm doing, etc. Hope it continues.
