A Year in fic Meme....stolen from uh, lots of people.

Fic I Wrote This Year:

Stargate: SG-1

Back To The Place You Are
Compares With You
Patchwork
Somebody's Hero
There's a B-List in my Closet

Oh, plus the as of yet unreleased (but completely finished, and therefore it totally counts) ridiculously long Austen!fic tentatively titled "A Maneuvering Business" and two tiny little comment ficlets.

Stargate: Atlantis

Askew
Phonetic

X-Men (The Movie)

This is the Way We... Part One
This is the Way We... Part Two
This is the Way We... Part Three
With a Cherry on Top

The Inside

Full Circle

My favorite story this year (of my own): For some reason beyond my comprehension, I really, really love Compares With You. I didn't when I was writing it, as my betas may well remember, but since it's been finished and posted it's the one that I think of most fondly. I think because I captured the feeling I wanted to, and it makes so much fluffy sense to me--I can see it being silly and ridiculous, but real more than anything else.

My best story this year: Hrm. I think maybe Patchwork. The way it flows makes me happy.

Story most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Maybe Full Circle, but I think that's just because most people go..."what the hell is The Inside?" If I had to pick one that was actually read by people...I don't know. Fandom has been good to me this year.

Most fun story: There's a B-List in my Closet. And considering that most of the fic I write is silly and fluffy and fun, you know that story has to be really wacked.

Sexiest story: I think Patchwork wins this by default, since it's the only one that had anything remotely graphic in it. Besides, I did think it was awful yummy. In my brain.

Story with single sexiest moment: Errr...it's silly, but I really love Jack asking Carter her opinion on area rugs in Compares With You. I get sick of sex, especially first time sex, as being portrayed all controlled and choreographed and at the head of the bed. After 8+ years, you just want to jump someone--you don't much particularly care about the venue.

Hardest story to write: It's a toss-up between A Maneuvering Business for sheer length and Somebody's Hero because Janet is not a character who comes easily to me.

Most unintentionally *telling* story: Askew, I think. When I wrote it, I was (am) feeling alienated from my surroundings, and I think it helped get across my point in that story for the Atlantis people.

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?

Less, actually. Last year, I wrote about the same amount in half the time. I didn't predict writing next to nothing for the first 6 months of the year. Damn that midseason break!

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2005?

Wolverine/Rogue movie!verse. Cuz uh, while I like it in theory, I don't really have the background in the characters or any real interest in the comics and just felt like I was dabbling in a fandom that I was woefully unprepared for. I don't think I'll be writing more fic for that anytime soon.

What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?

...Didn't I answer this already? This is what happens when you just steal various memes you come across to use for your own nefarious purposes.

Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them?

I think I did. I switched up my style quite a few times, which is always interesting. I tried to complete NaNoWriMo, and while I didn't make it length-wise, I did finish a longer story than I've ever written before in under a month. I tried Atlantis, which was a HUGE step for me because that fandom kind of scares me sometimes and because I'm not nearly as nice and comfy with it as I am SG-1. It taught me that I need to experiment MORE, not less.

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?

I want to finish my very silly novel. And Annie's fanfic10. And to write more Atlantis. Because it's really starting to grow on me.
