so beautiful

Today is sunshine, thin, cool breezes and flowering trees. It is beautiful enough to burn between my eyes. "So lovely," I think, as I thought yesterday against my husband's bare chest. The tree branches are alive with squirrels, the radio is piano and simplicity, the dishes have been washed and the soup for a good cause is on the stove, waiting for me to drop beaten eggs into its rolling boil, so beautifully ready to feed people who care.

Doesn't the world startle one some days? Doesn't it still the crazy fluttering, quiet the tangled soul, calm the tears--provoke tears? Perhaps it is the hope of another beautiful tomorrow that pulls us on each day in life, but it is the presence of an astounding three seconds of birdsong that gives us tentative peace today. Common grace, they tell me.

Look at the stars. Look how they shine for you.
