When Erol awoke, it was to violence.
Nothing quite said good morning like waking up to a frothing mouth of teeth. Erol reacted as someone else in his situation would -- with total and absolute instinct. Socking the creature in the face, eyes wide, he rolled to the side and whipped out his pistol while sliding his mask over his face with his free hand. He then blasted the animal with a bolt of red eco, killing if not disintegrating it.
At least, that was how it should have gone. Everything seemed ideal until he got to the gun bit. Instead of seeing his beloved pistol, Erol found he was holding empty air, his hand molded around where the handle should have been. His finger was even curled around the invisible trigger.
Well damn. Confused for just a split second and working his way through a migraine at the same time, the man lashed out with a spiked boot, catching the parasite in the left eye socket and flinging it about a foot sideways. It lurched rather like a stroke victim would before shuddering violently, leaking its life out onto the pavement. Satisfied, Erol watched it eagerly for a moment before turning in place at the sound of more skittering.
Flinching, he took a few steps back, waiting for the parasites to show themselves. He had mistaken them at first for Metal Heads - the sounds they made were relatively the same as was their intent for bodily harm. But this was not the time for idle contemplation; Erol had to get somewhere safe and fast. Without his guns he wasn't quite easy pickings but it still left him at a disadvantage.
