Laharl hadn't been kidding about his first dibs. Not once.

Of course, the situation was a little different than he'd originally thought. Before it had been beating up the monsters just because, dammit, they'd been nothing but a pain since day one. Now there was the whole matter of the human soul trapped inside. Geez...

Putting them out of their misery seemed like the best idea to him. Let their souls pass on and be free. If he'd somehow become one of those things, he sure as hell wouldn't have wanted to remain as one.

With Etna alongside, he had easily picked out Clover from the bunch. His plan was to lure it back to the city. It would be easier to deal with on land than the water. The larger they are, the harder they fall, after all. And land is a hell of a lot harder than water.

"Ready?" he asked his vassal, giving her a glance.

Spreading her wings out, Etna smirked.

"Born ready Prince. Born ready."

Grinning to her, Laharl led the way to the Manhattan island shore, landing on top of one of the buildings closest to the water that hadn't been destroyed by one of the creatures. First things first, to get Clover's attention, and hopefully the other people taking care of the other monsters would keep them busy.

Pooling energy to his hand, he release a shot of his power towards the monster. Not powerful enough to damage, just to get her attention. In theory, anyways.

With his shot, the boy yelled out, almost painfully loud.

"OI! STUPID MONSTER!"

After smashing up nearly all of Tagruato's floating fleet yesterday, Cloverfield was now milling around the coastline, moving very little. It appeared to be tired, almost, or else waiting for somewhere it was supposed to go. It usually knew exactly where to go...today, there was nowhere.

It did, however, react to the sudden energy shot that slammed into its side, buckling over a bit with shock. The monster turned in the direction of the shot and roared right back at Laharl. He had her attention in full.

He had thought of telling the pair of kids to get out of harm's way, and then they started shooting god knows what at the thing.

"Oh well." Ichigo thought, as he called forth his Hollow's mask.

"Getsuga Tenshou!" he shouted in an oddly doubled voice as he released the huge wave of dark energy at the monster.

What the? Who the hell was THIS guy, and why was he attacking HIS monster?

Laharl scowled as Ichigo suddenly burst on the scene attacking Clover. No. Oh no. NO WAY IN HELL. He'd called dibs on Clover months and MONTHS ago. Laharl waited too long for this, and there was no way some freak-faced human was gonna get in the way of this fight. And leech EXP. Not to mention the fact their were TWO other monsters out there to be dealt with.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?!?" Laharl yelled at Ichigo, fuming.

"This monster is OURS. Go fight one of the others!"

Was he serious?

"You're just a kid!" Ichigo yelled right back, mask disappearing. "That thing'll step on you, no matter what bit of power you throw at it!"

"Look, just stand back and let the grown ups handle this, okay?"

"You know Strawberry, you probably shouldn't have said that," Etna replied, rolling her eyes. She couldn't believe that this mortal would have the audacity to try and steal their kill, and the stupidity to insult the Prince like that.

Humans, they never learned.

"Well Prince, while you're dealing with things here, I'll make sure I don't let our prey get away." Turning she soared off towards Clover, and holding up her hand channeled a massive ball of demonic energy.

"Sorry sweetheart, but there's only room for one monster queen here, and I'm afraid you've been replaced~" she shouted as she hurled the ball of destruction at the giant monster.

Did he just...? Did this human seriously just say that?

'Shouldn't have said that,' was an understatement.

One might have almost sworn they saw veins popping in the Overlord's forehead as he clenched his hands into shaking fists. How many times had he heard that? How many times had someone called him a child since he'd been here? Had his title laughed at? Been underestimated?

It was a moment of the proverbial breaking of the camel's back.

He barely acknowledged Etna as rage had taken over.

"How many damn times do I have to tell you stupid HUMANS..." he began, struggling to just keep his voice in check, as dark power began to pulse around him, his eyes glowing dangerously yellow.

"I'm a DEMON! An OVERLORD! I'M ONE THOUSAND THREE-HUNDRED AND FOURTEEN, YOU MORON!" he screamed at Ichigo, as he gathered the energy to his hand and sent a blast at a nearby skyscraper ( ... )

Well. Okay then. Maybe it was better just to go after one of the other monsters after all.

[[no problem, it's ichigo's canon to butt in all the time. ^_^;;;;]]

In the midst of this fighting, Cloverfield was steadily stomping in their direction, paying absolutely no regard to any buildings unfortunate enough to be in her path.

However, when Etna's massive attack hit her full, on, she stopped in her tracks and let out a sky-shattering roar in rage and pain. She stumbled down into the street, one of her front legs clearly broken by the impact of the attack, and cracks in her armor-like skin appearing all over her shoulders and neck. It was a good thing the streets were empty, as an army of parasite crabs was now spilling into the street, fleeing the injured monster.

When the skyscraper exploded into rubble, Cloverfield turned and roared at it in fury, her tail whipping a path of destruction through the street behind her. The monster was going down.

Smirking, Etna darted to one side, allowing the Prince to land the final blow. Not that she didn't find the prospect of missing all that EXP not getting to kill the thing herself annoying, but she knew if she did finish it off the Prince would be unbearable for the next century or so.

Instead she made it up to herself by flying towards a skyscraper as fast as she could, and with a whirlwind of spear strikes sent the thing crashing down on the hoard of fleeing crabs, laughing all the while as she blasted the stragglers.

Since Clover is busy, I think Herbie wants to dance. lilacvampire October 4 2009, 06:32:35 UTC
Evangeline's expression gave nothing of how she felt. If she was happy to do this, sad, excited, depressed. She stared at the monster she picked for her opponent, her cape fluttering in the wind as she floated above everything waiting to start. What was she waiting for, it was tough to say.

Suddenly the small girl smiled and threw her hand forward. Several blue lights appeared in the sky behind her. First a dozen, then three dozen, soon there was easily hundreds of lights behind her, "Sagitta Magica!"

The hundreds of arrows of icy magic flew out toward her target, the second monster to arrive at this island. She didn't feel like arguing with that brat for his right to Clover. If she took this one on her own, so be it. She smiled wider, this would be so fun.

Aaand since Clover and Herbie are being taken care of... pandoras6th October 4 2009, 20:12:18 UTC
Saturn held her Glaive firmly in her grip, her eyes closed as she waited for the last monster to approach, the one formerly known as Andrew Basil. In her heart, she felt sadness for the poor soul trapped inside, but she knew that there was no other way really. But in the end, she firmly believed that with death came hope for rebirth. It was her power, both gift and curse and she could bring it upon that unfortunate creature regardless of anything.

She opened her eyes as she felt it approach, swinging her Glaive over her head. She would make its death swift and painless - he needn't suffer more than it already had.

Having left the kids....or demons to Clover, Ichigo noticed Hotaru, and ran to join her.

"Need some help?"
