CANTRIP TESTIN' TIME bozakcommander September 16 2009, 03:30:17 UTC
Kang had vowed to never again cast a spell after the goblin attack on Maranta's fort. He had found out that the magic hadn't disappeared with the departure of the gods that day, but he had tied his in closely with his faith in Takhisis, like so many other bozaks, that even then, in the fort, he'd needed to leech magic from that damn artifact that the crazy aurak general was using to turn his own people into mindless slaves. He hadn't been able to summon the power himself, due to his broken faith.

The movements of the Tagruato soldiers could be heard, moving closer; they knew that the Manhattanites had gotten ahold of the antidote, and Kang would bet good steel that they'd been ordered to dispose of everyone. He and his fellow captives had proven to be too troublesome.

He'd spent a good portion of the time since he'd received the antidote himself debating, and after grabbing something to eat for breakfast, went on a hunt for Harry. Desperate times called for desperate measures, and truth be told, he had missed the rush of it ( ... )

Harry had an idea for how to throw the enemy into chaos, but first he needed to talk to the right people.

Harry felt better than he had in months, the mystical power inside him humming so strongly he was amazed people couldn't hear it. He was brimming with the power of life itself, and it filled him with a warmth and confidence he had never known he had until it was gone.

Spotting Kang, he raised his hand to the Draconian. "Hey Kang."

"Harry," Kang nodded, smiling. "Just the wizard I wanted to see. I was wondering if you could help me out with something." He knew Harry had a few magical trinkets on him; he could sense the energy coming from them as a tingling in his fingers, much more noticeably than he had before the antidote. What better way to test than with a simple cantrip?

"Oh?" Harry replied with an intrigued look. While he was eager to find the people he needed and put his plan in action, he also trusted that if Kang wanted to try something, it was probably important.

Besides, he had to admit he also was a bit curious about what the Draconian wanted to show him.

Kang's smile faded slightly, "I'm going to try and cast a spell. Just a simple cantrip, to see if I can even do it after four years." A pause, and he chuckled. "It's one you should recognize, actually. Makes all those trinkets you've got on you glow."

Harry's grin grew at Kang's idea. He'd know the Draconian was capable of magic, but he'd also know he refused to use it for some reason. Well, had refused to use it until now. From the sound of things, Kang had gotten his groove back.

"I think I've heard of that one. Why don't you give it a shot?"

"Stand still, then," Kang's wings drew in a little further against his back. He took a breath, closing his eyes and focusing in on himself; after a moment, he opened them and looked at Harry, chanting the words perfectly, even though he hadn't spoken them in five years.

"Batin corak sihir saya."

He waited several seconds, wings drooping slightly when he didn't see any telltale glowing.

"...maybe I'm just rusty."

Harry waited and watched Kang intently, eager to see the spell in action. After a few moments, however, it was apparent something had gone wrong. Frowning, Harry stared at the Draconian for a moment.

"Possibly. I may no know much about how your magic works, but mine can be influenced by my state of mind. Maybe if you clear your mind..."

You can do this. The magic never left, and you know it. You've seen others use it even after Takhisis fled the world, Kang thought to himself, squaring his shoulders and taking another deep breath. You're doing this to go home. To help the friends you've made here get to their homes.

He didn't even realize that he'd spoken the words out loud, in a quiet voice. Trying again, he chanted the words to the spell, concentrating on the situation.

"Batin corak sihir saya."

This time, he felt the exhilarating rush of magic go through him, and was immediately rewarded with all of the trinkets on Harry's person imbued with magical energy glowing brightly, visible even through the leather of his duster.

Oh, Kang had missed this.

Grinning, Harry looked down at his glowing foci, then looked back up at Kang. "Well, I'd say Kang's got his groove back."

"It does seem like it," Kang smiled. "Feels good to have it back again. Didn't realize how much I'd really missed this until now."

LET THE MUSIC PLAY eba05 September 16 2009, 05:47:07 UTC
He had wanted to start the instant it had come back. To call out to the world, let them know he was here, here for them, and to let them power through the rest of it, through whatever it was they'd need, because he would help them through it. He had been ready. He had been ready for so long.

But they were tired. He'd been working all day. They had. And they could push it through, but it wasn't for the best. The beat brought him a new life, but that didn't change the part where this was still a dangerous mission. He couldn't push it.

Spin let the ship rest. He somehow managed to sleep, himself, the Music as a lullaby. And then the morning came, and the Music was ready when he opened his eyes.

The Agent tapped his foot. Listened, found the beat. He had been waiting for this song for a while, but...

Tonight, I'm gonna have myself a real good time

Here it was. Pumping, pulsing, ready to go, to the brim with energy and confidence and power. Yes.

I feel ali-hi-hi-hiiiive ( ... )

BEFORE THE CLASH/Rosette & Riku halfdarkened September 17 2009, 03:06:23 UTC
It was easy to find Riku considering the noise. Since it was approaching a year since he’d had free use of his power, for the first time he found himself practicingwith darkness. Like he had once before, he needed its power to ensure the well-being of those he cared about ( ... )

"What did that poor wall ever do to you?"

The line was delivered with a smile from the exorcist leaning against the doorframe. She'd seen Riku's joy at getting his powers back, and it and the determination that came with it had been infectious. She'd somehow managed to sleep, but today was another day and she was more than ready to get going on it. As far as Rosette was concerned, today was the day Tagruato was going down.

"I'd ask if you were ready," she enetered the room and stood slightly behind him, "but I think I already know the answer." Anyone who took a look at the much abused wall would be able to pick up on it pretty easily.

Riku looked over his shoulder to smile at her. "Hm. It got in my way." He finally turned when she spoke again. "Wasn't that my line?" he smirked. "What about you?"

Holding out his arm but still keeping his eyes on her, he called Way to the Dawn. It came quickly and unhesitatingly in a brilliant display of blue sparks. Riku hadn't even needed to concentrate. The weapon was again an extension of his own body. He relaxed his arm and finally glanced down at it with a smile. "I can't believe it. For the first time in so long I can use Dark Aura without hurting anyone else. Seems like forever since I'd last used it."
