All of these events were slightly overwhelming, to say the least. Phoenix had no idea what to really do. Their captors were sealed outside of the cellblock... which also meant they were sealed inside, except for those two doorways at the end of the halls. And yet, they'd managed to get out of their cells and subdue their guards. There was a lot to be said for the power of teamwork.

Phoenix sat in one of the cells, on a cot, tapping a finger against his chin as he pondered what would happen next.

Pearl had spent a lot of the previous day channeling someone who apparently liked to hit things really hard. While the necessary efforts may not have damaged Yachiru herself, they'd certainly put Pearl into a world of pain and soreness. Every part of her body hurt after she'd come out of the channeling and she'd been extremely bleary. By the time the next day rolled around, she was unable to recall any of it aside from her initial meeting with J and the beginning of the channeling.

As such, she was spending a good deal of time sleeping, but eventually even she woke up. However, Pearl kept her eyes tightly shut and her body curled into a ball. She didn't know who was around her or where she was, but at this point, she didn't really want to find out.

She just wanted to go home with Mr. Nick and Mystic Maya and wake the Steel Samurai or something.

At first, Phoenix hadn't even noticed the small girl curled up in the corner. That's how distracted he was. But gradually, he began to get the feeling that he wasn't alone. He shifted his weight and looked around, and his eyes widened when he caught sight of Pearl.

He stood up, walked over, and crouched down beside her to see if she was awake. "Pearls?" he said softly, putting a hand on her shoulder.

No matter how much she wanted to ignore the world and sleep, Pearl couldn't ignore that voice. Groggily, she opened her eyes and glanced around. It took her a minute to recognize the face in front of her, but once she did, her little arms threw themselves around him and held tight.

"MR. NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICK!" she cried, probably waking up everyone around as she started crying in pain and relief.

He put one hand on her head and rubbed her back with the other. This was no place for a little kid like Pearl... hell, it was no place for anyone, but especially for Pearl.

"It'll be okay. We'll figure out a way out of this, okay?" He was surprised to find that he wasn't just reassuring her. He really believed that. They'd made so much progress already. They could do this.

Once things had calmed down in the cell blocks (that is, once the other people managed to block off any more guards from coming in), Maya wasted no time in searching desperately for her friends. As luck would have it, she discovered Diego only a few cells away from her, and she'd been sticking close to him for the past day.

He hadn't gotten his medication, and Maya knew that was a bad thing. So she made sure to keep a careful eye on him as she led him to the safe area. Though, she was holding onto his arm mostly for her own benefit.

When she caught sight of her little cousin and her best friend, Maya's heart soared like a bird flying in the sky. "Nick!" she cried out, and nearly dragged Diego behind her. "Pearly!! Oh, I'm so glad to see you!"

If Diego had been relieved to see Maya unharmed, he must have been relieved sixfold to see Pearl. Maya was old enough to watch out for herself. His heart had ached to think of poor little Pearl lost in all of this.

"Wright," he said, nodding his head in greeting at the other man. It was good to see he was safe too, even if he'd never admit it. "I see you've been Feywatching too."

Pearl just clung to Mr. Nick a little bit harder until she heard that so familiar voice. She shot up from her position on the floor, nearly bowling Maya over as she leapt for her cousin.

"MYSTIC MAYA!" she cried, letting go as she noticed who Maya was tugging along. "Mr. Diego! We're all safe!"

Iris had been looking around, seeing if anyone had needed help and hadn't gotten it yet. It looked like most people had been attended to, when she heard a familiar squeal. She came around the corner and saw its source: Pearl Fey. "Mystic Pearl! Mr. Armando!" she smiled as she came toward them.

Then, she found a familiar spike-haired (though mostly limp now) man in a suit. "Feenie!" she squealed, and ran toward him. She didn't give him much of a chance to brace himself before she was on him, her lips locked to his. While some may question whether it was appropriate to be doing so in front of Pearl, they were actually being rather chaste about it.

Phoenix was overjoyed to see that Maya was all right. (Oh, and Diego too.) He stood up when Pearl unlatched herself from him, and opened his mouth to answer Diego's comment when Iris appeared. He barely managed to say her name before she had glomped onto him and kissed him.

Well. It had to happen sometime. Now was as good a time as any.

Oh good job you two, do it right in front of Pearl. It took a moment for the young medium to realize what had just occurred right in front of her face, but as soon as she did...

Pearl's entire demeanor changed. She let go of her hold on Mystic Maya and flew towards Phoenix and Iris.

"HOW DARE YOU!" she shrieked. "MYSTIC MAYA IS RIGHT HERE! HOW COULD YOU DO SUCH A THING!"

Aaaand her shrieks were likely punctuated by a couple of slaps aimed in Phoenix's general direction. Also tears. Likely Pearl was taking this harder than Maya ever would.

Phoenix held up his hands uselessly to protect himself, but it was no use. An angered Pearls was a force to reckon with.

"Ow, ow, ow, ow! H-hey...!"

Iris flushed deeply once she stepped away from Phoenix and Pearl's assault begain. "I'm sorry, Mystic Pearl!" She'd been so excited to see him alive and well that she'd forgotten herself. "I've actually known Feenie for quite some time..." she said, clasping her hands, and looking down and to one side bashfully. After a moment, her eyes flitted to Phoenix again.

Maya gasped in shock as Pearl let loose on poor Nick. After the initial shock had worn off, she reached over and grasped Pearl gently by the arm. It didn't matter how many times Maya tried to explain her relationship to Phoenix (and the fact that they had none) to her little cousin... she always did this.

"Hey Pearly," she said gently. "Come on, let's come over this way! I want to hear all about how you're doing!" She motioned obviously at Nick and then put her arm over Pearl's shoulder. "Let's go talk over there!"

That left Diego standing with Phoenix and Iris.

Phoenix sighed and ran a hand through his hair. That had gone... less well than he'd hoped. Though, if Pearl could focus enough to slap him, that meant she was fine. He was worried about how she was taking everything, but right now she seemed perfectly normal.

His eyes flitted to Iris. He opened his mouth to speak, then closed it again. Great, he was tongue-tied.

So instead he just waved slightly at Diego. "Hey, uh... are you feeling all right?"
