Barry groaned as he sat up on his cot, rubbing the back of his head with a bleary expression. For one disoriented moment he had no idea what was going on, but then memories of the past few days rushed back and he was pretty sure he had somewhat of a clue. Steel-grey walls, locked door, no window, locked door -- they were prisoners, all right. He made note of the markings on the wall: (CV-109 C05).

Although he'd missed the question that sent everyone searching through their pockets, it only took a look at the still-locked door to figure out what was going on. He rifled through the numerous pockets on his vest, managing to procure a few loose pieces of thread, a penny, and two hairpins he couldn't remember picking up. He knew the last items could be used as some sort of makeshift lockpick, but the actual mechanics of implementing it as such escaped him. Barry had only been trained in the use of conventional picks.

"Can anyone make use of these?" he asked, holding them out. If only Jill were here; he was sure a master like her would be able to put it to good use.

"I have..." Her dress lacked pockets, but she still wore her cloak from the flight to see Wolf and Giselle. "A pocketwatch, my bootlaces, and my magic. I'm limited in the latter though, by lack of spells at my disposal. Levitation is probably the most useful, since transformations tend to be rather unpredictable."

Levitating any of the people present certainly wouldn't be very useful, since there was nowhere for them to go. The witch fell silent in contemplation for a moment before adding thoughtfully, "I might be able to levitate pins out from the hinges on the other side of the door. I'd be willing to try, at least."

And once they reached the other side, someone would pay for the pain and fear they'd inflicted on her friends. She didn't have all that many, so her failure to protect the few friends she did possess grated on Elphaba, making her feel useless. The woman bit back her anger for the time being, saving it until it had a useful outlet.
