Content: Derek decides to check up on J after Starr’s disappearance and do some cheering up

That silence on the radio told Derek everything he needed to know. He knew Starr had meant a lot to J. How much wasn’t any of his business. (But he did have a few strong guesses.) The only fact that concerned him was that J was hurting, despite Starr being safe at home. It seemed to be what Agents did these days. Derek himself had a few too many.
J probably wouldn’t listen to just saying things outright, but there had to be something Derek could do. If he could find something to bring J back to his normal, or near normal, self... It was weird to see J like this.
So with a plan in mind, Derek walked over to the door and gave a single solid knock, though J probably had already heard him before he did. He waited for J to open the door. To the count of thirty. Derek would open it after that.
