Sephiroth knew there was much he had to talk about with Genesis. Some of it - the parts that involved his rather horrific past - he would rather avoid but it always seemed to come up in conversation sooner or later. There was no running from it and he would be a fool to try. The ex-General had long since sworn he would not lie about it if asked but he never wanted to discuss it. It was never easy, thinking about how much of a monster he had been ( ... )

Genesis blinked at first, hopefully to relieve the slight haze about his eyes as he stared on, expression either blank or unreadable as he silently studied the Ex SOLDIER for himself ( ... )

No change? Perhaps not outwardly, and Genesis had not been here long at all. He had no idea about Akira (then again, no one did. She was Sephiroth's secret, even if she was no longer there) or anything else that had happened since Sephiroth's arrival. It seemed their talk would begin with events further into the past than that, however.

The silver haired man moved as if to sit beside Genesis but stopped dead at the other man's words.

'Cosmic yo-yo?!'

He glared at Genesis, speechless for a moment. Yo-yo?!

But...upon reflection, the comparison was not altogether inaccurate... Sephiroth bit back any angry retort and sat on the edge of the bed a little stiffly. He refused to look at Genesis as he replied, hiding his face behind his hair.

"Idiot. I am Jenova's 'trusty cosmic yo-yo'."

Let Genesis make of that what he will. Minerva had nothing to do with it at all.

Genesis was not sure if it was the alcohol playing with his system, or it was the actual words Sephiroth had made out in a single breath.

What the hell kind of an answer was that?

Grey orbs stared long and hard at the other man, at first in confused, before Genesis found himself suddenly sputtering in deep laughter, holding his stomach and folding over. Such, such nonsense...

As to whether Seph was trying his hand at humor, or being utterly truthful, Genesis could not stop himself from expressing just how he felt about those particular words. What in the world happened to Sephiroth all throughout those years? Was Sephiroth’s own journey towards self-destruction really as inhuman and venomous as the vile green which outlined His eyes?

Somehow, it dawned on Genesis as a small form of guilt won over his laughter, diminishing it and leaving him to ease into a smile; a rueful, down-played smile. Jenova. She still had a role in his life? Their lives? …because of the destructive pilgrimage sought to be attained in all those years, ( ... )
