Panic at the Kitchen - [Active, Mostly-Closed]

Content: A panicking Pixie teleports in to let Sora and his friends know that he's now on Tagruato's hit list.

After Pixie made sure people she trusted a lot knew something. Between the people she gave notes to the know can spread pretty safely. Now she had to worry about a more personal issue. She made sure she had some of her armor with her and made her way to Bryant Park in a single teleport.

Although, her location was not the hotel, but a person in the Hotel. So she appeared within a few feet of Sora and his sandwich. Which, given that she did not know how or when they might strike, and poison would be pretty easy, she formed her Soul Dagger and used it to pin Sora's sandwich to the table, "Sorathisisveryveryimportantdidyoumakethatsandwichyourself!?"

If he wasn't expecting anyone to pop in, then the very last thing he was expecting was for Pixie to suddenly teleport into the room, stab his sandwich to the table and then start yelling at him about...something. It was hard to tell what at first because she was talking so fast. He leaped back about a foot, almost summoning the Keyblade on instinct.

"Wh...yes? What're you talking about?!"

Roxas didn't have any teleporting abilities, but he was very good at finding Sora, what with being his Nobody and everything. By the time Megan had distributed her notes and teleported to Sora, Roxas was already heading at speed through the hotel, and he burst into the kitchen at almost the exact same moment Megan skewered Sora's sandwich with her Souldagger.

For a moment he thought that she was attacking Sora, and he'd started over to defend him on a reflex before he realized it was just the sandwich ...

Roxas blinked, taking a step back and eyeing the dagger in the sandwich. He'd wanted an explanation, and now seemed as good a time as any to ask for one. "Megan ... What's going on?"

Megan pulled her knife out of the sandwich. Pretty sure now it wasn't going to kill Sora. With Roxas there, she started from the beginning, since that was a good place to start. However she was a bit nervous, and didn't know everything.

There was also a little bit of a blush on Megan's cheeks, no idea where she was glancing since her eyes are pitch black like they are. Which she was very thankful for right. She didn't figure that her lack of breathing while she spoke might make it hard to understand, but the confusion drove her to reiterate the primary point she wanted to convey.

Well, Sora didn't think he wanted his sandwich much anymore, what with it having a hole in the middle made from a darkness weapon. And with Megan obviously panicking about something, although she wouldn't stop talking fast. The most he got out of it was "science," "Healers" and "kill."

Roxas entered the room, looking really worried. Sora went from being confused to also worried...if this had Roxas concerned about him, then it was probably more than just Pixie freaking out over something again. He glanced to his Nobody and then back at Pixie.

"...What do you mean, 'kill?' Who're you talking about?"

Kairi didn't hesitate to start looking for Megan. She'd always seemed a little nervous, but the young Princess of Heart was never one to pass up the chance to comfort someone. Besides, this had Megan especially worked up. Kairi couldn't ignore that.

As she neared the kitchen, she could hear a train-wreck of syllables in Megan's voice as well as Sora's reply. She froze as she heard the word, "kill."

As she came around the corner, she slowed and stood with her hands on the entrance. "Kill?" Her eyes darted between Sora, Roxas, and the frightened girl. "Megan, what's going on?"

"... They want to kill the Healers?" Roxas said, suddenly much more tense. He hadn't caught all of what Megan had said, but as far as he was concerned there was only one 'they' that she could be talking about. He'd known Sora's healing had made him a target, that he'd been abducted more times than Roxas cared to think ... but even with his extensive and dedicated skills at pessimism, Roxas was kind of surprised to hear that they actually wanted the Healers dead. "Wait - say that again. Slower."

Riku had taken his time a little more than Kairi had. Megan needed a little time to calm down, he figured, and it didn't take much to set the girl off. Plus if history meant anything, his presence wouldn't make her much calmer.

He casually strolled up but saw Kairi's posture. Riku narrowed his eyes and took his thumb out of his pocket. He could hear Roxas. Great, now what? However, as he came through the door, passing Kairi, the teen looked concerned. Kill the Healers?

"Wait, what?"

Megan took a deep breath, collected her thoughts. It was way better to do this all at once, but slowly, then in pieces. Putting her thoughts about Roxas, her reactions to Riku, all of it out of her mind right now, this was more important than all that

Riku and Kairi heard the commotion and entered the kitchen along with Roxas. Sora was a little worried about any potential situation where Roxas, Riku and Pixie were together and possibly getting sharp with each other, but this seemed a whole lot more important than that.

His heart caught up in his throat when Pixie finally slowed down enough to explain just what she was freaking out about. So this was it...they knew why they were here now. The people that had brought them here wanted to turn them all into monsters.

And now they wanted to kill him. Not just him, but all of the Healers.

Sora's first thought was that they shouldn't be focusing on him, they should find a way to protect Aerith and Flute! He could defend himself, after all, and he wasn't going to let some creeps get the better of him. But the more he thought about it, the more scary it became...these people could make anyone disappear, at any time, without warning. How could they protect against that? How were they even planning to kill them

As Kairi listened she grew cold and questions filled her mind. Why? Why are they doing this?! What would they do with a horde of monsters? They wanted to kill the healers, including Sora, and the thought of that turned her a few shades paler.

"H-How can they do this?"

Despite Sora's tone, there was some little nuance she recognized. He was being brave as always. That little note in his voice meant he wasn't okay with this. And who could be? People who never even met him anted him dead. She wasn't okay with this.

"No, but I can try." Kairi walked up and took him by the arm. Though her face was full of concern, it still had that determination she'd made quite clear way back when they were growing up together. "I'll protect you."

Roxas's expression hardened. "Yeah," he said flatly, "we don't know how or when but it could be any time. They disappear people all the time, and no one's ever been able to stop that. If they want to kill you they can just take you." And what would happen then? Roxas didn't want to think about it. He looked about to volunteer himself for constant Sora-watching when Kairi stepped forward, and he dropped his head a little in what was almost a nod, and looked at Riku, expecting him to make the same offer - and hesitated, a different sort of frown crossing his face, as he glanced at Megan. If she thought he was doing this out of the goodness of ... of the heart he didn't have - what if she got the wrong idea? He frowned, some of the wide-eyed earnestness going out of his face as he shut himself off and looked away.

"If anything happens ... I'll feel it. You're my Somebody," he said, trying to emphasize the idea that that was the only reason he came close to caring. "So I'll protect you too."

Riku's face grew increasingly intense while Megan explained and he balled up a fist. There's no way they're gonna kill my best friend. "So, this is one big science lab, after all."

"Because they want power," Riku answered Kairi flatly. "And we're not going to let the take him, right?" He gave a nod towards Roxas without any evidence of hostility or sarcasm.

Riku stepped up with a nod and put a hand on Sora's shoulder. "There's always a solution and always a way out. If getting both to and off that beach wasn't proof enough." He looked thoughtful for a moment. "Harry might be able to put up a ward or something."

"No one of us can watch you all the time, but all of us can watch you some of the time," Megan offered cheerfully, "If we each take turns they can't just make you vanish. Because nobody has anyone just vanish." This made sense at least in Megan's mind... a little. Nobody has vanished with someone around, and if they wanted to keep their monster numbers up they wouldn't waste using any of us.

Everyone seemed to care a lot, even Roxas. She was sure Roxas was hiding his feelings. Even if he didn't have any for her... she knew he had feelings! She gave him a little bit of a smile which was cut short by reacting to someone else's anger.

"R-Riku... can you calm down," Megan asked quietly, "...your darkness hurts." Megan moved closer to Roxas because it... moved her away from Riku. Hoping a bit more space will help. "Mr. Dresden will work on this too, I left him a note about this!"

While there were still doubts lingering in the back of his mind...most disappearances had happened in the middle of the night, when everyone was asleep...Sora wouldn't allow himself to dwell on those doubts. Riku and Kairi and even Roxas were behind him. Still, Sora didn't know if he wanted Kairi putting herself in the line of fire just because he was a target. "Kairi...it might be really dangerous! You don't know what these guys might try!" And Sora couldn't bear the thought of her getting hurt because of him.

But as for Roxas...Sora could even now feel some of the struggle that his Nobody was experiencing, like he was hiding some of his own feelings. And Sora was pretty sure that it wasn't just because he was feeling his own feelings. He knew that Roxas was being truthful about agreeing to protect him, and that was good enough for him. "Thanks, you guys. You're right...we won't let them get away with this

"And I don't know what they'll try to do to you." Kairi put a hand on her chest. "If something happens to me, only a little bit of the city will be sad. But if you're gone, the whole city will be in even worse danger." She momentarily lowered her gaze. "I'm not a Healer. But we all made it this far by sticking together, right? I'm not getting left behind. And no matter what, I'm making sure you don't get left behind either."

Kairi smiled. As much as Riku and Roxas didn’t get along and as much as Megan didn’t feel comfortable around Riku, it felt really good that they could still band together when push came to shove. ...Although it surprised her that apparently Riku’s anger was connected to his darkness?

She continued to listen intently.
