Things were getting stranger and stranger here, but for the most, Zoe just brushed off those nagging concerns. Could've been worse, she admitted - at least most of the crew was here, at least they were alive. Life was dangerous, with the crabs and everything, but life out in the black was dangerous too. Nothing to be too worried about.

She came across the small woman as she headed towards ABC Auto - she needed some familiar faces to be around, and work to do. Even if life was dangerous, restlessness was something that also seemed tied into the city life. She paused, lifting her rifle quickly as a crab scuttled up to the woman... but she didn't have time to shoot.

Great. Another one of those gorram magic users. She sighed and lowered the rifle.

Wonder if she's new 'round these parts, she thought off-handedly. Even with the reduced population, Manhattan was still big enough not to know everyone who lived there.

Well, it seemed she was in luck! The small tarutaru had been turning to run off when she'd noticed the hume standing there with a gun in her hands. Well, well, a corsair perhaps? Well, that wasn't important. What was important was she was carrying a weapon that could finish off the sleeping creature.

If she'd only just do that.

Why ever was she just standing there? Couldn't she tell it was only asleep?

"Is that gun of yours there only for show? Hurry up before it awakens and deliver the killing blow!" Shantotto called to Zoe, her voice high-pitched but not quite that of a child as it held an authoritive tone.

Zoe raised an eyebrow very slightly - she hoped that the strange little rhyme hadn't been on purpose. There were too many tóng chuáng yì mèng here as it were.

Still, she raised the rifle and delivered three shots - one into the crab's back and two into its head. Well, if it was asleep before, it surely wasn't waking up now. She lowered her gun, and glanced back at...well, she wasn't sure what to call her anymore.

"That spell of yours work all the time?"

The tarutaru looked ever so pleased as the creature met it's end. How lucky she'd been indeed!

Approaching, Shantotto stopped before Zoe, hands on her hips, looking up at her as she only just stood past the hume's knees. "It rarely fails, I'm proud to say. One must be very immune to sleep spells to avoid this Tarutaru's magic's sway."

"Now then, I'd like to request a few moments of your time, if you please? I have a few questions that need answers, as I'm feeling rather ill at ease."

Assuming, of course, the hume even had any answers for her.

Damn, it was on purpose.

Zoe didn't know whether to laugh or groan at the absurdity of it all. She settled for a completely deadpan look, glancing down at Shantotto. "If you're new here, then the first thing I'll tell you is that you're on an island city called New York that got humped by a large version of those things." She gestured to dead crab. "Much larger. 'Bout the size of any of these buildings, give a few stories. So it's best if we get out of the middle of the street."

She kept an eye out for any other crabs looking to take advantage of their situation. All things considered though, Zoe could have found worse.

A monster as large as one of these buildings? Her curiousity was certainly perked. The tarutaru had seen and defeated a fair deal of large monsters through her years, but even that was unusually large. That explained all the damage to the buildings. She had many more questions now, at this point, but it seemed they'd need to wait.

Shantotto had to admit, standing out here didn't seem like the best of ideas given the circumstances, so gave a nod to Zoe's suggestion of moving. "You're quite right about me being new, so if you'll lead the way, I'll follow without ado."

Zoe nodded, glancing around the deserted streets. "There's a hotel near here where a lot of people stay. I'm surprised it's not awful crowded there yet, but one more person shouldn't be much of a problem." She nodded off to her right. "Ain't far from here - about three blocks that way."

Maybe the small woman would meet some folks should knew, although Zoe would have expected that she would've run into or heard about some strange folks talking the way she did.

Shantotto gave an approving nod. This hotel sounded like as good a place as any for now. Somewhere with many people seemed like the best place to find answers to the many more questions filling her head. The fact it was close sounded like a good thing too.

"Oho~ That sounds good enough. Let's head that way before things have a chance to become rough."

She wasn't exactly sure how many more times she could cast sleep after all.
