May the Lord assist us in these times of uncertainty and damnation
and prove us his grace, protect us from his and our enemies.
May he spread his protective wings over us and
teach what is to teach and watch over our ways.Boriane prayed silently on the way to the meeting point. She was going to meet a demon and rather arrogant one, as far as she could assess the person after their conversation in the journal. Normally she wouldn't voluntarily meet a demon, but she wanted to know the one who tried to threaten whole Manhattan and she was also interested in testing skills ( ... )

Sure enough, that black robe was immediately recognizable. Presentation is always important as far as Vergil is concerned and he straightens his posture even further, his arms falling back to his sides and she approaches. He's admittedly a touch surprised that his opponent is taller than him and female, but it's not so much a concern as a fleeting amusement. Far be it from him to determine worth by gender, he had met plenty of female demons worth respect.

What surprises him is that pitch black skin he can make from under the hood and those unnatural eyes. The only creatures he had ever seen bearing coloring like her were demons like himself. How strange that she would hunt them, but it only serves to stoke his interest further. She wasn't human, that much was obvious, and for the moment, that was enough to keep him polite.

"Vergil," he replies, returning the bow just slightly. "Certainly a pleasure, Boriane."

Vergil seemed surprised about her outward appearance. She was used to the curious looks of the people, but she never thought she could surprise a demon. Anyway, she held his gaze.

Boriane gestured towards a side street. "A few blocks form here is the museum where I've found my sword. It won't take long to get there, but we should go instantly, I've seen a couple of crabs on my way here." He had no discernible weapon -which didn't mean anything, her weapon was well hidden- but she hoped he wasn't so asinine coming here unarmed.

Once setting off she asked "Tell me about your world, Vergil." The high priestess wasn't sure if he would do.

It's something he recovers from quickly- an assumption that she, herself, is some brand of demon and that more than explains her appearance. It wasn't so unheard of for devils to fight their own kind; his own father had.

He lets his eyes follow the motion before nodding. "Then we'll move quickly." There's a noticeable lack of worry or concern at the mention the crabs, but he was confident even without an obvious weapon. He was a half-demon and that meant he was never truly unarmed.

"What do you want to know?" He doesn't sound particularly interested in conversation, but at least he's still making the offer to indulge in it. It's more than most people would get from him.

The high priestess raised an eyebrow when she noticed his missing concern about the crabs and took a mental note to ask him later about.

His voice betrayed he wasn't really interested to talk to her, but he did and she wondered whether he would do this to other people, too. "Well, the demons in my world look different. You're a 'human' demon -admittedly not the first one I've met here- and I'd like to know how your world looks like and if there are other demons who life more or less peacefully together." Boriane walked beside him and seemed to turn right and left at random, but this was far from the case.

"A human demon?" The way he says that word -human- it drips with disdain. To think his strength, his power would be paired with something so undeniably weak.

He scoffs, raising a hand and forcing it to start devil-triggering, bright blue veins creeping down his hand first, followed by blue scales that pattern down elongating fingers, long claws stretching from the tips. He's surprised that such a simple move seems to be... almost difficult. He hadn't actually done anything to realize his power been limited here. "It's for camouflage, you could say."

He nearly misses it but follows her when she turns. He honestly has no idea where he is so all he can do is rely on her.

Boriane looked at the metamorphosis more with interest than with fear. "This looks more like the demons in my world. I think I expressed myself badly, with 'human' I meant your outward appearance. It wasn't my intention to question your abilities ( ... )

He didn't expect it to scare her, not if she hunted demons. "I know what you meant, but I find it no more settling that I can still be compared to them." He had as many issues with humans as he did demons, but at least the latter was source to his power; the human blood in his veins was only weakness ( ... )

Boriane was in luck today. In a display a little hidden behind a pillar she found a suitable sword. Grabbing behind her neck she drew her sword and broke the glass of the display with its hilt. There wasn't much difference between the swords beside the faint silver shimmer -a sign of consecration to Boron- around the blade of her own. A short sequence of attacks and parades as if she would fight against an invisible opponent just to check out if it was an proper sword. It was a long time ago that she wielded two swords, but after years of training it wasn't something she would ever forget. And she didn't care if Vergil would watch her, he would see her fighting experience anyway. Pleased with the new sword she put her other back in its place.

The high priestess looked around to find more useful things, but nothing caught her eye and she returned to the meeting point to wait for Vergil.

[OOC: Sorry about that wait, I usually reply at work and it's been beyond hectic lately so I haven't gotten the chance]Vergil is also feeling rather lucky, finding a well made katana that he, shamefully, has to break a case to get at. Once free, he picks up the sheathed weapon from the broken glass and unsheathes the blade, looking it over. Sharp, but not as sharp as Yamato. Not as long, either, and undoubtedly not capable of handling itself under the strain and force a half-demon could exert, but it would do. It was perfect folded steel, made to be a weapon rather than a display piece ( ... )

Boriane looked interested at the weapons he'd chosen. A broadsword and a Tuzakknife like it was called in her world. Although 'knife' was a little understated; the blade was at least 1,40 meter long.

Holding her new sword underhand the blade behind her, she returned his nod. "My pleasure, Vergil. What do you think about a little warm up in the entrance hall? Only to compare our sword skills. I think we should leave our special abilities to the playground at the NYU. If you don't mind to keep your human shape." The high priestess knew she would possibly offend him with her last sentence, but it would make the fight more interesting.

Vergil looks her over, the way she holds her weapons and herself. She was certainly capable and had a confidence of a warrior who had fought hordes, not like that fake cockiness of a kid pretending to be a knight. It was a respectable challenge and the itch for a fight was in his blood now. That last remark earns something between a scoff and a laugh.

He smirks, sliding his thumb up the sheath of the katana to press against the guard, unsheathing the blade only barely enough to reveal the blade. "Consider your subtle challenge accepted. I believe a warm-up could be... enjoyable."

In the way he looked at her and agreed to her suggestion she knew it wouldn't be just a training, it would be a fight. Not a life and death fight of course, but more serious than her other practices.

Boriane nodded and preceded to the entrance hall considering if she should fight with both swords. She decided to leave it with one.

Reaching the hall she turned to Vergil. The chance of a challenging fight let her fighting spirit completely wake up and it seemed her eyes started to blaze. Changing her grip around the hilt she brought her sword in front of her with a flowing movement. "Let's fight until one of us draws the first blood." Boriane was ready, she waited just for his agreement or his attack.
