Hamel tried, he really did.
Each morning for the last two days Hamel had been getting the courage to talk to Flute. Every morning he was the first to get dressed and the first to make his way back to the hotel. He needed closure, something to ease the hole in his heart that seemed nagged him every moment it could. Raiel was out of the question, but flute...
Well, she did offer to talk, didn't she?
So he tried to make his way there, confident that he would at least meet her once. However, as he got closer and the building came to full view, he felt each step become harder and his feet grow heavier. Soon enough, at the end of every day, he'd always give up and walk back to the hospital. There was always tomorrow after all.
This time he managed only a few blocks away before he stopped, his eyes from underneath his black hat staring at the reddish tower in the distance. What the hell would he even say to her? I'm sorry I worried about your life? Hey, how about those life insurance policies? If I loved you, would you stop doing this to yourself?
He grimaced at his choices, unsatisfied from how they came out. None of those were going to work.
