The morning sun was cheerily bright through Sherry's curtains when she woke up that morning. Like she had when she went to meet Wesker, Sherry was stringent in keeping herself quiet to not rouse Claire. It would've been kind of hard, besides; for being such a stalwart woman, she slept like the dead. "I'm going to visit Eve!" she called to Claire, feeling herself look toward the ceiling as she lied.
There was just something wrong about it. Like she was committing some kind of unforgivable act. Sherry sincerely hoped that it wasn't the case. Besides, Claire would want her to see her father, wouldn't she?
She slipped on her shoes and ran down the hallway as quietly as she could taking care not to interrupt anyone's rest. It would be a problem if she was stopped, and they would ask questions Sherry wasn't able to answer. Her stomach clenched as she thought of lying more.
The little girl swallowed and took a deep breath as she crossed the lobby of the building, trying her best to look casual as she opened the door and peeked outside. The streets were empty, as they always seemed to be when she went out by herself. Maybe she was some kind of monster repellent. The thought made her grin a little bit, loosening jittery nerves and with one more look up at the apartment building (who would see her? Would they? What if they were like Claire too? Kevin hadn't seemed like a morning person...), Sherry ran down the street towards the wrought-iron gates of the park.
A little running leap helped her gain some sway over climbing it, and she found herself hanging from the branches of a maple tree for a moment. Her legs dangled in mid-air before she dropped herself to the grass below. She looked up at the tree again and brushed off her dew-stained pant legs.
Daddy will be here in the park, too. I just have to be patient and wait for him, she thought excitedly. Finding a bench near the center of the park, Sherry pulled up her legs and rested her forehead on her knees. Her thoughts were whirling in her head wildly, waiting for answers and her stomach flip-flopped nervously. Claire and Leon weren't bad people; not if her Daddy was alive.
