Leon had little trouble getting to the place, which was good, since he could use that same route to get her back to Pete's. He did a quick jaunt around the block once he'd found the place, just to be sure there wasn't any surprises waiting.

When he came back to her building, he came out of the alley immediately beside it, having just hopped the fence from the other side of the block. He looked positively exhilarated, despite the large bandage on his right hand. He'd been forced to strap all of his gear on the opposite side and do a little practicing with it so that using his left felt more natural. He supposed it wasn't too bad of a thing. Focusing on the fundamentals never hurt anyone, right? He stuck to his pistol and his shotgun for the moment, and if crabs showed up, he only intended to suppress them long enough to be able to escape.

He grinned at her when he approached. "You must be Maureen," he began.

Maureen had started humming to herself to keep from being too bored. With the city so empty, it wasn't like she could people watch or anything... But the voice snapped her out of her daze. She smiled up at the man. He had a boyish face, but really was cute.

She eyed the guns strapped to him, then the bandage on his hand. He was already proving to be interesting and well worth the wait. "The one and only, babe. I... I'm afraid I never caught your name, though..."

She stood from her spot and dusted off her leather pants before glancing back at him with a slight smirk. He was definitely cute, she'd give him points for that at least.

"Leon S. Kennedy," he replied. Damn, was he having the luck around here or what? Maybe some new company would be just as good a break from being glared at around Pete's as he thought it would be.

"I'd say that your chariot awaits, but we'll have to hoof it back to Gramercy Park," he told her. He took the opportunity to give her a good once-over as well. He didn't think anyone wore leather pants like that anymore, but he can't say he was disappointed to see a good looking woman in them again.

"It's nice to meet you, Leaon," Maureen grinned. She shrugged her shoulders as he mentioned having to walk back to the bar. "Don't sweat it, babe."

His glance over her hadn't gone unnoticed, but the performance artist didn't say a thing. Instead, she smirked and glanced over him once more. She reached out and trailed her fingers along his bandaged hand. "What happened?" she cooed, grabbing his hand gently and bringing it up so she could inspect it even more.

As one hand held it up, the other traced lightly over.

He was glad she had enough sense to be gentle with it, as he was ready for that wound to shoot pain up his forearm at the slightest provocation. "Job hazard," he replied vaguely. "Apparently not everyone enjoys my company."

Maureen stared at him for a moment. Like a post-apocalyptic society would be any different from normal... Of course people were like to have disagreements.. Turn on each other instead of the problem at hand.

She pressed her lips gently against his fingers, just below where the bandaging ended, and slowly released his hand from her grip. "Well," she started with a smirk. "I can guarantee that won't be the case with me, babe."

He guessed it was true what they said about battle scars. He wondered what she'd say about the gunshot wound he'd picked up in Raccoon City. Of course to find that out, he'd have to have his shirt off. He mulled over the probability of that, and suppressed a smirk.

"Glad to hear it," he replied. He started down the street. "So tell me about yourself."

She let him lead the way, her heels clicking against the pavement as she matched her pace to his. Maureen shrugged her shoulders when he asked about her. "I've lived here all my life... Nothing too special or anything... I've done some protests just down that street and then in a building coming up here... I'm a performance artist."

She tilted her head and smirked up at him. "But I'm sure that's all boring compared to you. You look like you have some stories you could tell, babe."

He glancedto her when she said that. So she must have been there when this all happened. "Boring can be a nice change of pace sometimes. What kind of protests?" He needed to buy a little time to explain what exactly he did without going into too much detail.

Maureen smirked as he avoided saying anything about himself. She made a mental note to press him for it more later... But she was faced with something she couldn't turn down: the chance to talk about herself some more. "Peaceful protests... Mostly when the corporations tried to take over independent artists like myself... Rotten treatment of the lower class, the inability to help those in a rut to get back on their feet."

The loss of my performance space.

He grinned over at her. "You sound like a regular flower child. Someone's got to fight the good fight," he replied, shifting his shotgun strap on his shoulder. He looked around, and listened close for any of the signature scratching. So far, so good.

Maureen laughed and shook her head. "Do you see any flowers in my hair? Tye-dye on my shirt? I'm a bohemian more than anything, babe."

She watched him fidget with his gun strap, allowing the quiet moment to pass. "You never answered my question about you, though. What's your story?"

Leon laughed with her. "Alright, my bad. Bohemian." But that question came up again. Now he had a plan to answer it. "Well, I was a cop until a few years ago. Then I went through special training with the government, and hooked up with the secret service. I'm also one of the guys they go to in case of viral outbreaks and extraction is necessary." He hoped that would keep too many prying questions at bay.

Maureen smiled as he corrected himself, but remained silent as he went on to explain a little about himself. "I knew you had a story to ya," she grinned. "That's really interesting, though. I mean, you've been through quite a bit then..."

Flashing him another smile, this time with a wink to accompany it, she continued following him to the bar. "You're a pretty amazing guy... How long have you been stuck here?"

He nodded, breathing a bit easier. He hated having to explain what he did to girls. "I've seen a few places in the world I wouldn't have otherwise, so I can't say I'm complaining." He smirked a bit, and shrugged. "Well, I'm glad someone thinks so. I've been here since day one, actually. We didn't know very much about the crabs at the time, so I got sent in with a few guys to find out."

"And now you're stuck here," Maureen sighed. "Well, we're lucky to have someone like you with us during this, at least. From what my room mate told me, this has been going on for a quite a while..."

She glanced away, her gaze now resting on the ground. If they'd been here for so long, she could only imagine how long she'd be stuck here... She glanced up at a street sign to see how far they were from the bar. Almost there... She hooked her thumbs through her belt loops and sighed, but didn't say anything else.
