Content: When taking a bath Caren drifts off into the land of nod.
Location: Latham Hotel.
Warnings: Naked Lady in the bath, I think that says enough.
Bubbles were so pretty. It was like so, you poured the magic thick liquid (that smelt like yummy strawberries but tasted bad) under the tap, and in seconds white shiny bubbles big and small foamed up on the surface of the warm water. They made bath time lots of fun!
*Squeak*
Along with Mr Duck, Caren loved Mr Duck.
*Squeak* *Squeak*
She squeezed the rubber yellow duck with a wet slippery hand some more, each time it gave off a squeak that made her giggle. Bath time was not the same without Mr Duck, wherever Caren went, Mr Duck went, sleeping in her little backpack until she took a bath, because he made bath time fun like the bubbles!
Mr Duck never used to have a name; it was Rushuna who name him. Rushuna used to bath with her too, but today Caren wanted to do it herself, because Riza took baths on her own and she wanted to see more bubbles. Rushuna would let her use magic bottle to make them, but never let her use lots, this made Caren sad. Didn’t Rushuna love lots of bubbles?
Rushuna wasn’t a mean lady, because she let her take a bath alone when she asked, so Caren was happy, she could use lots of the magic bottle! She’d used so much it was all over the floor and it was very pretty.
‘Okay, I’ll wait outside until you’re done, just call if you need anything kay?’
Dropping Mr Duck through the foamy bubbles into the water, Caren turned her attention to Bathroom door, listening beyond the low popping sounds of bubbles, to hear the faint musical hum from the other side. Rushuna was so cool, she could sound like a birdy, but Caren couldn't do it when she tried. Mr Duck could do a funny birdy sound, so Caren tried squeezing her tummy hoping she could make a birdy sound, but it hurt lots so she stopped.
Leaning back in the tub, Caren sank down into the warm water until it reached her neck, the bubbles surrounded around her like a big fluffy cloud. Staring up, her bright naïve eyes observed the white painted ceiling, moist with evaporated water. The cabinet mirror on the wall was fogged up with steam, the faintest tray of a finger mark drawn over. Circles, lots of circles. They were bubbles.
Smiling happily, Caren looked back at the ceiling, her hand feeling for Mr Duck in the bubbles, yet her fingers failed to grasp around the rubber ducky and eventually she gave up. Yawning, she closed her sleepy eyes, inhaling and exhaling a breath.
Rushuna always made her go to bed early than everyone else and she didn’t like that. Tonight Caren didn’t care so much, she very tired, very very very tired. Maybe she could take a nap for a few minutes…
‘And remember no sleeping in the bath’
Eyelids snapping open, Caren shook her head and forced herself to stay awake. No she couldn’t go to sleep, not until she was warm and snuggled in her bed…b-but, it was so far away, and this bath was warm enough to snuggle in. What was wrong with sleeping in the bath?
Rushuna was no fun telling her what to do all the time. Don’t draw on the walls, don’t pee with the toilet seat up, don’t pour your drink into the toaster, don’t run around in your underwear and don’t pick your nose and stick it in your food. Caren wished there were no rules; she just wanted lots of fun.
And so Caren went against the advice Rushuna had given her not to fall asleep in the bath, which sure enough she did…not knowing she was slowly sliding beneath the surface of the water, until she disappeared into the sea of bubbles completely…

In a cocoon of metal, wires are curled around the walls of her prison, imbedded deep into her artificial skin. Thick green fluid surrounds her naked body, carrying the muffled distant hum of machines.
There are no thoughts, no feelings. She can not move. She simply exists…

Then suddenly, something switches on in her mechanical brain. Like a burst of light in the dark she comes alive. She no longer is made of stone, she can move.
Newborn eyes open.
Innocently her hands reach out, touching the thick plate of glass before her. She can see someone is there, watching in from the outside world. The green fluid distort her vision, she has trouble seeing who it is, yet something inside tells her she knows this person, they’re important.
‘Da…ddy…’
As if hearing her thoughts, the man’s hand presses on the glass and she moves to a line her smaller hand with his.
Can’t…Can’t…BREATHE!
Waking, Caren bolted upright, breaking through the water’s surface, gasping in a large lungful of air she’d nearly starved of. The bath water had gotten inside her nose irritating her unpleasantly as she coughed and choked on the water caught in her throat.
So this was why Rushuna said no napping in the bath.
