Of course, he also had a feeling this was the last thing that would go according to plan today. Still, he pushed aside any worries he might have about the dangers to come, or all the friends he was once again sending into danger across the city. There wasn’t anything he could do for them right now, and if he got distracted his own team could suffer. He’d just have to trust in their abilities, and make damn sure he got home to them safely.
Running a last minute check on his gear; gun, spare clips, hockey stick, backup flashlight, EMT bag, crab repelling potion he still hadn’t perfected, knife. He’d have to hope it would be enough.
Turning back to the rest of the group, Harry said, “Okay everyone, let’s get a move on. If we’re lucky we’ll catch whoever’s behind all this before they’ve had their morning coffee.”
Once everyone was set, Harry moved to hop in the truck bed and take a seat, trying not to stare at the dark tunnel that stretched before them, looking like it was ready to devour any who entered. Harry figured he’d stared down the jaws of a real monster last week; he could face the jaws of a metaphorical one now.
He even managed to convince himself that was the case…a little.

Placing her side arm back in the holster, she hoisted herself up into the truck, trying to focus on the task ahead, not on anything else. Like the fact that a certain person wasn't going to be happy that she was involved in this and hadn't mentioned it.
It was time to do her part, finally.

She was quick to make it there, glancing around as she arrived and nodding once to those who had already made it. "I'll have your backs," she commented, adjusting her belt where her blades were hanging. The look she shot Harry after that clearly said, "Unless you think of a better place for me."

She sighed, she wouldn't be able to do much if they were in a thing like this. Toph was glad she had come prepared for a situation like this, lately she'd taken to carrying around a couple of rocks in her bag that she could easily access. It was a little silly but considering the situations she was tossed into she wanted to be prepared. Toph scrambled up onto the truck bed, following Harry, she'd rather be out in the open than cooped up in the cab.
Knowing she wouldn't be able to see sitting in the bed of the truck she felt her way over to Harry and sat a little closer to him than she might have normally, she poked him sharply in the side with her elbow, "Alright, if anything happens out there I'm going to need you to direct me where to chunk the rocks."

That was the thought that was running through Mac's head. The soreness from the close-up encounter with Big Momma's copy - physical and emotional - was still there, even though the folks from ABC Auto were kind enough to provide a quick home.
And the hovercraft...
No more traveling in style, at least for now. Heck, he was lucky he managed to keep the thumb drive containing Zero's box schematics and his own notes. Seemed like a waste of time.
'Course, finding a lead to get outta here was time well-spent. Just had to suck it up and keep on going.
Looking around, Mac spotted some familiar faces. There was Harry Dresden - he thought he was around at Rockefeller...? And Sara Sidle...and...
"Toph!" he called, knocking on the window. "Ready to have some fun here?"

"Hullo, chaps!" he said happily as he padded towards the truck. He had, apparently, made no preparations about his person other than to make sure to strap his watch around his tail - but, then again, what else could a cat really carry that would be useful? Where he came from, plenty of things came cat-sized, but anything that would have helped the rest of them out at all was far too big for Orlando to be able to feasibly carry. He would just have to make sure his eyes were peeled, lest anything come out of the dark that human eyes failed to spot, and that he was ready to run if he had to.
With this in mind, he hopped up into the truck bed with the others - it would be easier to leap out at a moment's notice from there ... the fact that he liked to feel the wind in his fur had nothing to do with it. Nothing at all.

Harry reasoned that if he, Celes, and Toph were going to cut lose they might as well do it with a wide field of fire. Given what Kaylee had told Harry about Mac's qualifications, he had no doubt the man was capable of handling the truck. Harry would drive himself, but there was still the slight chance he might burn it out, and he didn't want to leave them stranded.
Once everyone was settled, either in the bed of the truck or the cabin, Harry leaned over to brush against Toph, letting her know where he was. "Don't worry Toph, I'll be your eyes, you be my fist," he replied with a grin. Looking over at Orlando as the cat hopped up, Harry gave him a slight pat behind the ears before settling back. Some might raise eyebrows at Harry's decision to bring the cat along, but in truth who better to explore a small place in the dark than a cat?
Tapping on the window to get the attention of those in the cabin, Harry gave a thumbs up. "Let's get this show on the road!"

"Sounds like a plan to me." Sara said with a smirk, swinging into the passenger side of the cabin of the truck. She may have overdone the weaponry for this, but after being right in the path of the monster before, she'd rather be overstocked then under.
And besides, with the truck door, she had some cover in case she had to start shooting at something. She'd been in her fair share of police maneuvers.

The smallest of smiles crossed her face and she hoisted herself into the bed of the truck near Harry and Toph. She turned so she could see as much of things around them as she could: front, sides, and back. This was going to be dicey, but at least grenade-man wasn't here this time. No worries of cave-ins. Hopefully...
She nodded to Harry, taking in what he said and turning it over in her mind to get the most of his orders. The ex-general had no qualms with following him and she was almost looking forward to what this adventure would bring. She was ready when they got moving.
"Good luck, everyone," she murmured to herself, hoping that no one in any of the teams would get hurt today.

Once everyone seemed settled she directed her attention to Harry who started going over the plan. His plan was nice a simple, a plan she could get behind. "I'm good at being the fist," she remarked with a cocky grin, bridging her fingers together and cracking her knuckles.

One quick thing before hopping in the back...
"And you next to her...Sara Sidle, right? Name's MacGyver. Pleased to meet'cha in person! We've got a great team here," he said, extending - well...more hooking through the gap in the window, anyway - his hand to shake.

"Alright, everyone, let's give those rotters what for!"

As the truck began to move Harry settled back, looking into the darkness ahead and keeping his eyes and ears open for any sign of something unusual. Not knowing the terrain meant they had to move slowly, which gave Harry a chance to really take in all the details of the tunnel, from floor to ceiling.
"No cars," he murmured. "This place should have been packed with cars from all the people trying to evacuate. I mean, maybe looters took the stuff near the entrance, but no way any large group ventured this far into the tunnel."
This was getting weird, and things had only just begun.

"It's surreal." She said, in reply to Harry's comment. "It was so busy normally, from what people I knew here would tell me, even before this all happened. I think it was a main road, or something." She could only go on what the Manhattan team had told her about the city in past emails, ones she wished she could read again.
But now, maybe it could be their way out of this hell, who knew?

If they ran into trouble further on, she knew what spell she'd be using.
She glanced around them at the comments about the lack of cars. It did seem weird from what she understood of this place. It was a tunnel, a road for transport. Shouldn't there have been something? Or was that...?
She squinted into the distance. "It feels weird and I can't tell what's around us." She paused a moment, not wanting to use up too much energy too soon and also not wanting to give away their position. Something about this whole situation gave her the creeps. "It's like it was set up." She frowned again. "I can't tell... but does it look like there's something up there?"

"I thought places like this were supposed to be swarming with crabs...I went down one of these tunnels once and it wasn't pretty," Toph remarked, her voice a little softer than usual because she was still trying to focus on listening to something other than the truck. She wished she could help a bit more with sensing this place out but while she was in the truck she was pretty useless.
