Argh, okay. Hamel could do this. It was easy. He was even right at Flute's hotel door. It wasn't a big deal, this walk. Wasn't even the D word, no. Of course not. That was kinda foolish to think right now, wasn't it? They hadn't even said those three words to each other, so it wasn't dating, right? Yeah, not dating.

Hamel continued to just fidget in front of Flute's door. Every so often, his arm would rise up and ready to knock, only to pull back and make a short pace before standing in front of the door again.

Maybe he should kick the door down and come in dramatically? That's pretty normal for him, yeah. Well, no. Flute would obviously be mad at that and that wouldn't do. Argh, these clothes were killing him. A long black coat, black dress shirt and white slacks, while were his favorite colors, were much too prissy and made it look too much like it was date. Maybe he should go back up and change. No, there wasn't much time for that.

Should he just walk in or knock or-

"AH, Fuck it!" He groaned and knocked on the door rather hard

Flute opened the door a second later, her face brightening the instant she saw it was him. Not that she was expecting him to stand her up, of course. It was just... this all felt like a dream anyway. It wouldn't have shocked her too badly to wake up in her own bed.

"Hi Hamel!" she said brightly, stepping out and closing the door behind her. Ha haaa, now he could run away without her. "I'm ready to go. Do you have anywhere in particular you'd like to walk?"

Hamel cheek's flushed the minute he saw Flute, his hands sliding into his long coat pockets as he was too nervous being singled out like this. Not a date. Not a date. Not a date.

Okay, she was speaking! That was good. She liked the clothes... or probably didn't notice them, which was also just as good. A place to go? Oh, right. They were walking. He pulled out one hand to scratch his cheek while pondering.

"Hmm, well I was thinking we could just walk wherever I feet take us..." Ah, okay that wasn't necessarily a specific place that she wanted to hear.

"That sounds fine too," she said, nodding. She didn't have anywhere in mind either. Honestly she was too shocked that Hamel actually wanted to go somewhere with her just the two of them. Though it wasn't that strange... in fact, it seemed like years ago now, but back home, only a week earlier, she and Hamel had taken a similar walk in Score as she was recovering from her injuries.

And at the end...

Flute's face turned unmistakably pink, though she stumbled to verbally cover it up as they reached the elevator and she hurriedly pressed the down button. "I guess we can just see what we find!"

Ah, Hamel's limbs felt so stiff right now. It took a moment for him to actually start walking and follow flute to the elevator. It wasn't his first time being inside the metal box, given this his room was at the top floor, but for some reason it felt a lot warmer and tighter. He shifted slightly uncomfortably as the elevator made its slow ride. when the doors opened again, he was the first one out.

"So...did you finish that book you were reading?" Not bad, a good start for a long event. He can do this! Hamel's muscles relaxed slightly.

"Yes, I did," she replied, nodding. "It was a very good story. They have lots of different kinds of books here-- there weren't very many at the library in Staccato, so it's exciting that I can look at all the different kinds now."

They headed out into the fresh air of the day, but Flute wasn't cold at all. Her heart was still racing and it was slowly dawning on her that she was out on a date walk. With Hamel! Of his own volition!

"So what have you been up to lately? Find anything fun to do?"

"Oh yeah?" He asked as he continued with her outside of the hotel. The fresh air was very welcoming to his very stuffy coat. Ugh, it just wasn't the same as his normal adventure outfit. He missed his cape already.

Once outside, Hamel stopped and looked around the surrounding city. Left or right? Maybe they should go straight and through the park. Hmmm. Maybe just away from the central park would be better. With a careful grab of Flute's hand, he guided her in the new direction they were going.

Ah, she was asking what he was doing. This always led to no good. "Ah, well..."

He gave a hard to the sky as he contemplated how to phrase it right. "...I've been keepin' myself busy. Trying to finda nice place for myself in this city."

Flute was about to respond to that when she felt the sudden squeeze of Hamel's hand on her own-- and there were a few unsteady seconds when she thought she might be in danger of fainting. No way. No way. This had to be a dream. There had to be something up-- why in the world would Hamel be...

Fighting back a bright pink blush on her face and a stupid smile, she looked away from Hamel but did not remove her hand. "Keeping out of trouble then?" she teased. Teasing was particularly ineffective when you could not even look at the target out of the corner of your eye out of embarrassment. "That's good! My room is a little bit crowded, after all, but... you should at least stay close."

Hamel's hand didn't stick with Flute for very long. He had only grabbed her hand to make sure she was going in the direction he decided. Don't worry though, Hamel himself was far too nervous and shy to look down at Flute either. Choosing to look out onto the road, Hamel twitched at Flute's first question.

Staying out of trouble? Haha, his voice was even more hesitant, but for a completely different reason.

"Ah, well... it's not like chase after trouble..." Hamel answered, his hand scratching behind his head sheepishly.

It was nice while it lasted, anyway.

Flute was hesitant to point out that as far as she saw, Hamel sort of went looking for trouble on his own, if he didn't outright start it himself. But she wouldn't say so. "I know," she laughed. "It's not your fault. I'm the same way. Trouble just seems to find me, sometimes! Just be sure you let me know if you need any help, okay?"

"Y-yeah..." Like hell he'd let her in on his schemes. sure, lot of his schemes did involve her, but to the point of needing some idiot to dress up and marionette. Though, now that he thought about it, she kind of wasn't that much of an idiot, was she?

Speaking of his favorite (And only) slave...

Hamel paused for a minute to figure out his words. They can't sound suspicious or give the wrong meaning.

"So!" He turned to beam at his companion with the best nice smile he could summon. "What have you been up to while stuck here?"

Hamel's smile... it always made her heart skip a few beats if it was one of his genuine ones. And even when it was, his eyes always looked so sad and burdened.

"Oh, all kinds of things," Flute said brightly. "I sort of got into trouble a few times, but I met some new friends like V and Mr. Wolf... and his wife, Giselle. I got to be in their wedding too. I used to live at a bookstore but it got destroyed, so that's when I moved into the hotel. Otherwise I've been busy working on my magic... and worrying about all of you."

"...Mr...wolf?" What was this, a fairy tale?

"It's a long story," Flute sighed, shaking her head. "But he's, uh... part wolf. He's very kind though. You should meet him sometime!"

Hamel was suddenly caught up in his imagination, his eyes looking up into the sky thoughtfully as he contemplated a part wolf. How would you even get someone that was part wolf anyway? You could guess that if a beast Mazoku had a child with a human woman, you'd get something like a half-wolf, but it'd still be a Mazoku.

Maybe it would be more man than wolf, but still stalk some swamp in the middle of nowhere, preying on innocent women until some angry mob came to slay it. Yeah, Hamel nodded in agreement with himself, that conclusion made a lot more sense.

"I wonder how he maintains that beard." He muttered, scratching his chin as he continued to ponder.

Flute was pleased at first that Hamel's imagination hadn't run away like Raiel's, but was caught up a moment later.

"... what beard? Mr. Wolf doesn't have a beard," Flute asked, baffled.
