Takes just a breath to cause a scream [Narrative]

Feb 25, 2009 01:02

Characters: Kairi
Content: Kairi's original intention was to follow Sora to his battle, but things come up, and then she doesn't so much want to go to him...
Location: Some streets to edge of Battery Park
Time of Day: Midday; backdated to the Marluxia-Sora-Roxas-Goofy fight
Warnings: Uhh... it's kind of a bit angsty :|

With an absolutely dreadful feeling, Kairi tried to find where Sora and Marluxia were fighting. She needed to find him. She understood, really, she did! Kairi was angry at Marluxia, too, for how he continued to mistreat her Nobody. She would even be willing to try to fight him herself if it ever came down to it… but Sora was angry, and that made her worry, and a bit frightful.

People did stupid things when they were angry, and Sora was no exception to that.

It was cold out. Kairi uncomfortably pulled her jacket closer to her as she ran through the streets, not even sure where she was going. She had started to follow him earlier, but since getting distracted from what she thought were crabs (instead it was something falling over in one of the nearby buildings, which could have been a result of crabs, or just the never-ending wind making its way in).

She had never been this far south. It was strange to her. She wanted to sight-see a bit, but knew there couldn’t be much time. Even a stop in a café probably was making things worse instead of aiding; she tried to pull up a map and figure out where a good place to fight would be, but it really didn’t help much.

Just nearing the edge of Battery Park, Kairi suddenly felt overwhelmed. Nausea made her backpedal away and she braced herself against a lamppost. She shook, sinking to the ground, curling in on herself as her breath hitched.

What... what's going on...

Uneasily, she glanced towards the direction where it felt the worse. It was like a beacon, reaching out to her, but it was reaching out towards everything. Marluxia? No, no. Even for him it felt wrong... She forced herself back up, trying to keep going towards the source... she had to know...

...but seeing a trail of darkness, a wild form tearing through the air, Kairi froze. It was him. She knew it was him, just like she knew when he was a Heartless - but this... this was different. She knew he just couldn't be a Heartless... yet this was more... terrifying.

I have to help him... she thought shakily. I can't just leave him like that. What if something happens? Kairi knew she was pulling away, and hated herself for it. She slowly turned, still begging herself to stay, that she had to stay for him, but she ran. She ran as fast as she could until she could quell the aches and pains in her heart, and then she tumbled over crying.

I'm sorry Sora!!
