There had been plenty of materials with which to construct a new bow.  None with which to create a replacement for his lost sword, however.  Wander was no blacksmith.  His new bow would serve him well for now though, he believed.

During his travels in this place, he had seen no animals which he could kill for food.  Aside from the armored creatures, which were surely cursed and thereby inedible.  A hiss from his left alerted Wander to another of the creatures.  He turned immediately and drew an arrow from the makeshift quiver on his back, which had been fashioned from a golf bag.  The bow and arrows he'd painstakingly constructed from several trees which had been among the insides of a ruined structure, as well as a few stones out of a frozen fountain in the street.

As he knocked the arrow, Wander noticed the crab-like creature lower itself into a defensive position.  It had probably been trying to sleep through the cold.  But now it had targeted him as prey.

The arrow swiftly flew through the air with barely a sound, driving itself into the creature's head.  The crab dropped to the street without so much as a growl.

Exhaling, Wander slung the bow over his back once again and continued walking.  He was beginning to feel the effects of the lack of food and sleep.

I must build a shelter soon.  But if I can't find a source of food first, then there will be no sense in setting up a shelter.

It was a general rule of long-term survival.

Wander already felt bad enough stripping resources to build weapons.  No one had seemed to even be around to object.  He needed to survive, anyway.  The creatures he'd encountered personally had proved dangerous enough.  In addition, Dormin would prove a formidable foe in his new form.  Wander would need something more than his bow.

For now, he continued to walk in search of food...and of his nemesis, Dormin.
