Claire was returning from a walk around the block when instead of going back to her apartment she steered herself into the bar instead, intent on a beer and a snack when she noticed her brother messing around with something in his hands. It took her a few steps closer and a tilted head before she could tell what he was doing, but when she figured it out she snorted, holding the back of her hand up against her mouth in a belated attempt to cover the sound.
"I think the object of those things is to get the colors lined up. Not mix them up even more."
Chris turns his head at the sound of that familiar voice. The look on his face while he's trying to solve the Rubix Cube is the same look someone would have while attempting to disarm a nuclear bomb.
"Oh, like you could do any better."
Chris smiles, then puts the Cube on the bar in front of him. Time to take a break for a minute.
"I'm about to just peel the stickers off and put them back on in the correct places. But then I wouldn't have anything to do. Damn."
"The place has been pretty quiet after the two for one special last week." Claire shook her head, setting her shotgun down and pulling her coat off, before making her way around the bar and ducking down in search of something suitable to drink.
"Could always go raid a movie store or something. I think that's what everyone else's been doing. Nothing says disaster situation like watching horror movies."
"Providing it hasn't all gone stale." Claire came up from underneath the bar, beer in hand, and cracked it open, tipping it back and taking a swig before putting it down and frowning briefly.
"Can popcorn go stale?" She knew they put those 'best buy marked date' stamps on them, but Twinkies had those too, and everyone knew Twinkies were good until the end of time.
"If it's already been popped, yeah. Otherwise, it's basically just seeds. I don't think those go bad." Chris says. "I'm probably not the best person to ask, though. You're the brains of the family."
Chris looks up at her and grins, still sliding his Rubix Cube around. He's probably forgotten it's even there right now.

He picks up his bottle of beer and polishes it off, then starts scooting the Rubix Cube around on the bar with it absent-mindedly.
"Hell, we can even try to find a bag of popcorn and cook it up the old fashioned way."
