Edna looked up at the ruined visage of the Bryant park hotel with unveiled disdain. Such glory, brought so low, peeling paint and wounded masonry. Still, it was better than nothing at all, and if memory served, it was the home a a boy named 'Sora.'
And what kind of name was that for a boy? Hardly proper, really, though from what she'd seen, a good many things were strange here. New York always had been a queer little strange city, and usually with more than twice as many supers. Something had gone terribly wrong here, and Edna knew as surely as the price of damask that she'd have the whole story out before long. Still, no point in rushing, no point at all.
Quite close, now, she considered the glass doors sourly. Manners, pah! Edna Mode does nothing to undiginified as loitering. Merely, she was hesitating, considering her options as a wise chess champion might before making their move. One slim hand at eye level, pressed against the hands of the door and it swung open before her, revealing the dusty, once-sumptuous lobby of the Park Bryant Hotel.
"Dahlings!" she called brightly, self-assured good cheer in every shining echo of her voice, every line of her posture, "I'm here!"
