For the past few days, Vincent's free time had gone towards researching and analyzing the note uncovered from their little subway adventure. In need of a break for awhile, the Ex-Turk had found himself wandering into the Bryant Park Hotel in hopes of visiting a few friends. Maybe Sora was home.

Deciding to wait around the lobby a bit, Vincent unconsciously took a cookie off the plate and ate it without thinking.

...

...did the room suddenly grow?

His hair felt shorter, too...

Ella stood nearby, clutching her dress to her to keep it from falling off, as it was now several sizes too large. She'd looked away for just a moment -- just enough time to keep her from warning the man who'd taken a cookie.

"...oops," she said.

Vincent felt... unusual all of a sudden, as he began to head for the door. Running a hand through his hair, it indeed felt much shorter than before, and a little more... spikier than usual. It seemed familiar, though the bagginess of his clothes and the too-high collar of his cloak weren't. Huh.

Hearing a little girl's voice call out suddenly, he blinked. Was she... there before? Who was she?

"...you lost, kid?" He asked, surprised at the... lighter tone of voice he'd taken on.

"No, I live here," she replied, frowning at being called "kid". Not that she could blame him, really; she was only eight now. "I should have warned you sooner, I'm sorry. There's something wrong with those cookies."

"Something... wrong?" Vincent echoed, still trying to piece everything together. He had felt a little different after eating the cookie, but it wasn't like the tea had been on Halloween. No hallucinations, no sickness...

Looking down at his reflection on the golden gauntlet, he jumped a bit. It was like... staring at who he used to be. The ghost... the human version of himself...

"...what in Ifrit's name...? What's going on here?"

Ella sighed and shrugged. "Apparently they're cursed. I'm not supposed to be this young, either," she replied. "I was going to stand here and warn people. I looked away for just a moment..." And then he'd showed up, right at the most inconvenient time.

"...cursed. Damnit." The Ex-Turk sighed, placing a palm to his forehead in irritation. Greeeat. It was Halloween all over again.

Trying to sift through his larger-than-usual leather pants for his pistol, Vincent swore as it clattered to the ground and reached to pick it back up. "This... isn't going to be easy to explain to my fiancee." And Sephiroth won't let me live it down. He added in the security of his own mind.

Ella fidgeted. "At least you aren't a little kid," she pointed out, not meaning to sound bitter.

She looked around. "If only whoever did this wasn't too cowardly to be hiding..."

Vincent managed to grab the fallen pistol, and stood up enough for the lance on his back to slump and clatter down as well. Standing silently for a few moments, mostly in annoyance, the Ex-Turk kicked the larger weapon up into his other hand and began to head for the door once more. "I'm going home. And if this doesn't wear off sometime soon, someone's not living to see the new year."

Well... he wasn't entirely serious.

But dear Shiva, he had to have been around nineteen now...

Ella sighed. "All right. Um, good luck. And sorry."

She started off in the opposite direction. She had accidentally picked up a dress that was a little too small for her on her looting trip to the nearby thrift store; maybe it would fit her now.
