Characters: Mitsuki Konishi, Kaede Content: Kaede catches Mitsu's interest, so the shadow woman stalks her a bit. Location: Rooftops around town Time of Day: Afternoon Warnings: None.... I don't think at least.
Reaching the outskirts of town, Kaede slid to a stop, looking over the waters that surrounded Manhattan. She stood for a moment, letting the breeze off the water stir her hair and trench coat. She figured her uninvited passanger would feel more comfortable talking away from the prying eyes of the public. Those who lived in shadows usually did.
She had to admit, whoever was with her was very good. Kaede, for all her training, had barely noticed her, and that was only after the guest had latched onto her shadow. It would be interesting to see who it was.
"Excuse me Shadow-dono, but you can come out now. I'm flattered you find me intriguing, but there is no need to be so shy. I do not bite~"
Mitsuki blinked and slipped her PDA into her pocket. The girl had sensed her? She slowly melted from the shadow and crossed her arms under her chest. "You knew I was tailing you?" she inquired, sounding amused.
She let out a soft giggle and shook her head, placing her fingertips at her forehead. "I can assure you, I was not being shy."
This girl really was something else... Mitsuki tucked a lock of hair behind her ear and glanced out over the water as well, letting her guard down only slightly.
Kaede smiled and turned to face the other woman, tilting her head to one side. "Yes, although it was not easy to tell. I must complement you on your stealth abilities."
Her giggle inspired a chuckle from Kaede as her eyes took in every detail about the other woman. "No, I suppose not. Your bearing is that of a woman with great self confidence, not someone who would be intimidated by a simple school girl like myself. Oh well, it was nice to fantasize for a moment that I had a secret admirer." Kaede snapped her fingers, though her expression wasn't all that devastated.
She saw that Mitsuki's posture had relaxed slightly, and so she took her hands out of her pockets to show she didn't have any weapons on her. Despite the other woman's spying, Kaede felt no anger. Indeed, she was more curious than anything else, so as long as Mitsuki didn't attack her, she would not start any violence.
Mitsuki glanced back over at the girl, raising an eyebrow. "Thank you for the compliment," she said softly. And then the girl continued, talking about secret admirers and being a simple school girl and fantasizing...
She turned to face the girl, tilting her head to the side. "But you're not a simple school girl. That much is for certain. A normal girl would not be able to scale those buildings as you just did... So perhaps I could be considered an admirer of sorts."
"You're welcome~" Kaede replied, nodding her head respectfully.
Kaede's grin grew with Mitsuki's words, and she opened one eye to stare at the woman. "I suppose it was foolish of me to try and deceive you, but you can't blame a girl for keeping her little secrets. Still I am very flattered by your admiration, coming from one as skilled and lovely as yourself."
While it might have seemed like Kaede wasn't trying very hard to hide her true nature, the truth was more complicated. She allowed people to see through her flimsy disguse, so that they could convince themselves they had her figured out, and thus did not end up prying deeper into her true capabilities. Well, that and the fact that a skill never used was a skill that had little value.
Mitsuki continued to stand with her arms crossed under her bust, watching the girl, waiting for a clue to something else about her nature. "You like to use flattery to keep attention from being kept on you. It's sweet, but it won't work."
She adjusted her glasses and continued to stare at the girl. "You are a very curious one indeed... So... Where exactly did you learn those skills?"
Kaede's smile never faltered as she said, "My flattery is only partially intended to distract you. It is also because I do find you an intriguing and attractive woman."
Kaede especially liked how she toyed with her glasses. It was cute. Even if the woman was clearly someone who was very good at what she did, and not to be underestimated.
Mitsuki raised an eyebrow, her fingers still playing with the metal of her glasses. "Again with the flattery," she smirked. She took a deep breath as the girl remained unresponsive. "Your family is very skilled... How is it they know to do these things? It's very impressive."
She was itching to bring out her PDA and start making new notes in her database, but she relented for now and simply stored the information in the back of her mind.
Tapping her chin thoughtfully Kaede mused, "Well, we learned through a combination of hard work and lessons handed down from our ancestors. They're sort of hard to explain. I could give you a demonstration thought~"
Smirking Kaede mused for a second, "Well, normally I do so with a game of tag, but I take it you would not find that entertaining?"
That said, Kaede stepped back and ditched her trench coat and began stretching in a remarkable display of flexibility. She didn't want to pull a muscle after all.
Mitsuki glanced around and found a place to take a seat. "As you've guessed, a game of tag isn't really my style." At least not a normal game of tag. She crossed one leg over the other and continued to watch as the girl tossed her trench coat aside and began stretching.
Perhaps showing she was thankful for demonstrating this would put her in better graces? "Thank you again for offering to show me, this is very interesting."
Stepping back, Kaede took a deep breath, and launched into a martial arts demonstration that displayed superhuman agility, strength, and flexibility. She flipped feet in the air, stood on one finger, and smashed rock with her bare hands. It was important that she held nothing back, becuase if she did, Mitsuki would know
( ... )
It was about halfway through the demonstration that Mitsuki couldn't stand not having her PDA out. So she began scribbling notes in it as soon as it was back in her hands. Notes about the girl, her abilities, everything.
She smirked when the girl smashed the rock with her bare hands and continued her display. This girl was definitely more than what she seemed. Making one last note in her PDA as the demonstration came to an end, Mitsuki slipped it back into her pocket. She brought her hands together in a slow clap before standing. "That, my dear, was very impressive."
She was, honestly, glad she had talked the girl into sharing. "You are an extremely talented individual."
And would last several weeks through the Reaper's game, that was for certain.
Kaede noted the device, but didn't complain. After all, that just meant the other woman found her interesting.
Bowing low she said, "Well thank you so much. Your words mean a great deal coming from someone who is also familiar with the shadows. Oh, and you might want to add to your file that my name is Kaede Nagase. It is a pleasure to meet you."
Her tone wasn't menacing, just very playful as always. This new woman was very intriguing.
Mitsuki froze only slightly when the girl provided a name for her file. She was very forward, something she Iron Maiden had not expected in the least. However, instead of writing down the name (it would look like she was taking orders from the girl and she refused to let that happen), she committed the name to memory. To write down later.
"It's very nice to meet you, Kaede," Mitsuki said carefully. She needed to practice her kindness just a little longer... If she were to be rude and get in a tiff with the girl, she'd only be able to hold her own for so long before hiding in the shadows.
She stood from her seat on the rock and held out her hand politely. "Mitsuki Konishi. I do hope we run into each other more often." 'So I can see what else you're capable of,' she added mentally.

"My family," she supplied unhelpfully.

She could pretend to be nice, when she wanted.
