When he was a kid, Mac remembered being the target of the entire opposing team as he tried to sneak the puck into their goal.  A crush of blue jerseys, the sound of ice shredding, and the clack of hockey sticks echoed as his eyes went wide.  At least, that's what he remembered just before feeling the ground fly away from beneath his feet, move up to slap against his back as his eyes noted the brightness of the stadium lights.  His first time getting checked for real.  Wasn't pretty.

Still, it was seeming pretty good at the moment.

The skitter of crabs only spurred MacGyver's strides as he and the members of his team running next to him beat feet.  His lungs burned as he ran, hearing muffled thumps and bangs as the crabs crashed into scattered debris trying to get at them.  Looking around, he knew that something had to give...and if it went on, it'd be his stamina, and the crabs would get some lunch.

Gotta think!

The screech of a crab jaw warned Mac just in time to duck to the right, dodging the clack of teeth, right into a crab claw that grazed his cheek.  Sucking it up, he kept running, glancing this way and that to see if there were a way to dodge the crabs and keep them guessing.  Hopefully, it would give them a few minutes.

Well, a few seconds, at least...

Sprinting ahead, Mac scooped up a concrete chunk and hurled it at a dangling fluorescent light, which swung down just in time to clock a leaping crab in the face.  Next was a stray T-shirt he doused on the fly with lighter fluid.  Tossing it back, he quickly followed it with a match, hearing the flare of fire and sudden overcorrection as the crabs stumbled on debris trying to avoid it.

Who's got the cage with the crab again?

A quick glance back.

Crud!

MacGyver doubled back and snatched it away as the crabs began to regain cohesion and come back chasing after them, resuming his search for an opportunity.

There.  To his left, he saw the remains of a Sunglasses Hut propped up against the door of a Duane Reade.

Perfect!

Yelling for his companions to follow him, he practically dove into the entrance while pulling the wagon and cage behind him.  Shifting the cage to an out-of-the-way spot, he began looking at their situation.

There was a passage back, probably into service tunnels.  Maybe not crab-free, but the narrow space would mean less worry of getting flanked.  Turning back, he called to his comrades.

"Doc, with me!  We're lookin' for glyceryl trinitrate in the back, and checking the door to the service hallways.  Lieutenant, Toph!  Can you hold 'em off?"
