With the moon glinting off his glasses slightly, Mao crept silently, carefully calculating every step, every sound he made to be as faint and light as possible. His face twitched into a smile, he was hardly able to hide his excitement of his latest and greatest specimen of all.
Another Overlord.
Heroes? Check.
An Overlord? His father was too big for him to even dent. This was a grand discovery, this was...!
Tricky. Very, very tricky.
He pulled himself over Laharl's bed, taking a good look at the surprisingly smaller demon. Mao was not much to look at, but Laharl was even more of a pipsqueak than he was.
He really smiled now. If Laharl wasn't such a heavy sleeper, the light reflecting from his glasses- no, his teeth would have certainly given him away by now. Of course, he couldn't let Laharl wake up mid experiment with a scream, that would cause a sensation that Mao was not in the mood for. With the ( ... )

Laharl had been more exhausted than he'd realized. Even the presence of Mao hadn't stirred him as he was Overlord-napped. He really had no idea how long he'd slept when he finally, for some reason he wasn't sure, found himself stirring awake.
The young demon was barely awake. It was dark. Pitch dark. His sleepy mind couldn't fathom exactly why he was awake if it was night. He almost closed his eyes to return to his slumber, but something tickled his mind. Two things, in fact. Was he laying on his back? That was odd. Laharl was a side-sleeper. It was rare for him to be flat on his back.
The other thing, that managed to catch his sleepy mind's attention was the fact he felt like someone was over looking RIGHT over him. He might have thought it was his imagination, but a glint of light flashed just above him.
Meanwhile, a familiar presence began to fill his senses.
"Nrgh... Wha...?" Laharl mumbled as he started to come around.

Mao settled the scalpel onto the table, making a soft but clear metallic sound. His eyes glanced back at his ... well, rival? Guinea pig? (Ugh, friend?) and tilted his glasses. Hmm, the subject was prematurely awake.
"So I see you've joined us for the appointment," Mao muttered, looking through his first aid kit and other assorted tools as he spoke. Whether or not Laharl had actually heard him depended on how conscious he was at the moment.
"You'll be glad to know that it won't take too long. Man, can you sleep ( ... )

"Ugh...M-Mao? W-what the hell are you...?"
He became aware of the fact he was bound down as he spoke, as he'd tried to shift and promptly found he couldn't. He couldn't even really twitch, beyond his fingers and toes.
Oh hell...
It was about now that the long forgotten challenge came to Laharl's mind. He'd brushed it off as soon as it had been made. He didn't think there would be any way Mao would actually try it, apparently he'd been wrong. Damnit, he should have been more on guard. This never would have happened if Etna had at least been around... in theory. Gah... he needed more vassals.
"You Bastard," Laharl growled out, sounding far more awake now. "When I ( ... )
