It was much easier to walk around now than it had been only a week ago. She still hadn’t ventured far outside of the clinic in the time being, and must have paced through the room hundreds of times. Walking was still uncomfortable; she could feel skin stretching in her strides where it once hadn’t. If nothing else, at least she was able to walk without assistance. The blisters that had once covered her back had either healed or turned to scars by now, and she had sheared off the majority of the burnt hair. It was now considerably shorter, yet still carefully managed.
Rachel sighed, straightening up cots as she waited for Bruce to arrive. Cleaning had been one of the few things to keep her entertained once she had been able to start moving around, and even that wasn’t saying much.
