"You lived in London?"

Fred stepped out from the alley he had wandered into during today's stroll. He hadn't expected to see anyone else, but there, in the middle of the street, stood a girl. She was alone, apparently talking to herself. Fred liked her already.
He paused before he spoke again, trying to tell if she was upset with him for jumping in.

"Ah, forgive me for eavesdropping. But I'm curious, what was it like?"

Evey turned around quickly when she heard a voice coming from behind her, causing some of her hair to fly around and hit her in the face. A person she hadn't met was standing there, just looking at her.

"Oh, it's not a problem." At least, not a big one at this point, she was used to having V appearing out of nowhere at random times. "It was chaotic, to say that much." She replied when he asked about London.

"But I get the feeling that my London is different than yours." That's what she had been gathering by talking to other people.

Fred smiled as he watched the girl's hair brush against her face. It wasn't the most unique hair, but the brown curls were lovely.

"I don't exactly have a London. I've only heard of the place once or twice. Was it a city like this?" He finally broke his gaze with her hair, letting his eyes wander to the tall buildings surrounding them. He was still amazed by the skyscrapers, after living in such a small town for all his life.

"It was in certain ways, but in others it was very different." She responded to his question, brushing her hair behind her ear, somewhat frustrated with it.

"It was a big city, but there weren't as many skyscrapers, and the buildings were old, historic buildings." Norsefire hadn't done anything to change that, keeping London just like it was before they had taken power. The less the people had known, the better, as it were.

"I see. This is the first city I've been to. I suppose I'm not very worldly." He chuckled slightly at the girl's annoyance with her hair.
I could fix that...you wouldn't have to worry about your hair anymore.
He silently laughed again, then realized he had been staring for longer than he had meant.
"I believe this section is my favorite, though. It looks like it was marvelous, back in its day."

"Ah. Are you from the country?" Evey asked, smiling a bit. It had been a while since she had been out in the country, English, American or otherwise. She really didn't remember it well.

"Oh, I believe it was. I had only seen postcards before now." She sighed and looked back towards the buildings. "I wish I could have seen it before everything happened."

"Ah, yes. In the middle of Nowhere, actually. It was...quiet." He looked down, reminiscing about his time there. He missed Aunt Muriel's farm, her cooking, her dog... "I think I prefer here, though. More people to meet."

He looked up at the buildings as well, imagining them lit up, with thousands of people buzzing around beneath them.

"Yes, it would have been amazing to see the city before...all of this."

"Is that the name of the city?" Evey inquired, she had never heard of a town actually being called "Middle of Nowhere." She had heard it used as a description of a place though.

"It would have." She agreed with him. She didn't think that any of the pictures she had seen could have done this area any justice.

"The town was called Nowhere. The name fits it perfectly." He wasn't sure if it even qualified as a town, but land mass didn't quite seem as quaint sounding.

"Oh, I never introduced myself, did I? My name is Fred." He was beginning to sound like a broken record, but it had become his default phrase whenever a conversation seemed to be slowing down.

"Really? Sounds...interesting." To say the least. "I think that something small would be calm and serene, very different than here." She smiled at him.

"My name is Evey. It's very nice to meet you Fred." She replied, realizing she hadn't introduced herself before. "I apologize for not introducing myself before."

"You'd be surprised how much went on there. From what I've heard my Aunt say, there were aliens, and a living snowman, and..." He chuckled slightly to himself. "A freaky barber with an obsession with shaving people." Part of him wasn't sure telling her was the best idea, but he had left out the name of said barber...

"Evey." Fred repeated slowly. "A pretty name. And don't fret about introducing yourself. I did surprise you, after all."

Evey listened as Fred told her about some of the things that happened in this 'Nowhere.' "Now it sounds really interesting." She said with a small chuckle. "Although I can do without the aliens, and a haircut. The snowman would be something to see." She turned back to the buildings.

"Besides, who doesn't want a bit of excitement in their lives?"

"Interesting it was indeed." He smiled as she mentioned the haircut. "I don't blame you, your hair is lovely." But it would look better all over my floor... He sighed. This girl...Evey, was making it all too easy for his mind to go places he didn't want to go. Not right now, anyway.

"Ah, yes. I wish I had been there longer, the asylum was much less fun..."

"Ah, thank you." She replied to the compliment. But his next comment slightly unnerved her, even though she had stayed with V for so long.

"...The asylum...?" She asked, a bit of hesitance in her voice was apparent, and she wished that is hadn't been.

Fred sighed. It was always the asylum part that got to people.

"Yes, my home for the last many years. A lonely place it was, though my room was quite comfortable...so soft." He replied, as if he was talking about something as average as going to the store.

"...Really." She wasn't really going to hold it against him, as long as he didn't try to do anything to her. It would have been hypocritical, in a way. With her being friends with V and all...he was crazy in his own little way.
