Of course they were slim. He had made the challenge, had he not? And how rude it would be if he did not show up! But an impression had to be made (especially as others would be watching) and that meant making a good entrance. Unfortunately, t hat was a bit harder to accomplish than he thought it might be. There were plenty of places to wait, but they were difficult enough to get to, and he really didn't want to have to move things over to get up to those places. There weren't any trees, either (or none that weren't scarcely older than saplings). A pity, too, as even those would have worked just fine.

And so, around a corner it was. Little work for a fair result. Vyers was hidden, at least. He peeked around, hearing footsteps, before whipping into view. "Ah, so you have arrived!"

There he was. Same as always: Mid-Boss.

"Yeah, here I am," Laharl muttered in reply, folding his arms across his chest, glancing Mid-Boss over. There really wasn't anything much different about him since the last he'd seen him.

Had he even gained any more levels? Doubtful. Once a low-level demon, always a low-level demon.

"Let's just get this over with," Laharl said. He didn't want this to take any longer than necessary.

"I understand completely. You simply don't want to put this off any longer." He shrugged. "Aha... Who can blame you? Such an honor it is to fight against moi!"

Vyers laughed loudly, his hand quickly swinging to gesture toward his rival. "Let us waste no more time! Come at me!"

((Sorry for short tag. >.O))

"That's not what I meant," Laharl muttered, as he slowly dropped his arms from his chest, vaguely pondering how to even start this. Ah, he didn't feel like wasting any mana unless he had to so...

He rushed forward, clamping his hand into a fist and came low, then leapt up, fist driving for Mid-Boss's chin.

Vyers hadn't been expecting a physical attack and when the Overlord charged him, he was hit square in the jaw, flying back from the force of the blow. He quickly recovered, however, getting back on his feet and rushing forward with a punch of his own. The boy may have gotten the jump on him that time, but he wasn't finished yet!

Why had Mid-Boss looked so surprised? He's the one who'd wanted to fight and to come at him. Geez. Laharl had plenty of time to be ready for when Mid-Boss came at him, and dodged the punch effortlessly. He then proceeded to sticking out his leg as Mid-Boss rushed at him, hoping to trip the moron up.

Vyers immediately swung his arms out when he felt himself lose balance, eyes wide as he moved them in small circles before he was finally sure he wouldn't go falling flat on his face. He sighed in relief before it finally occurred to him that he had indeed been tripped, and he whipped around with a kick, an indignant look on his face.

Had the boy really thought a simple trip would bring him down? Hmph! He would be sorely mistaken!

Maybe Mid-Boss didn't fall flat on his face like Laharl would have enjoyed seeing, but watching him flail around trying not to fall was good enough. What an idiot. Laharl smirked as once more he easily dodged, ducking low as the kick passed over him, then leaping up, plowing his fist for Mid-Boss' middle, his fist coated in energy this time around.

"You gotta do better than that, Mid-Boss," he heckled.

Vyers could only only make a short, surprised sound before he was sent flying once again. His back hit the pavement and he slid for a moment before rolling out of it and back up to his feet. That one... That one had hurt a little. It was a fairly good hit, he would give Laharl that.

Vyers simply glared. "I simply had not recovered from that cheap trick," he responded in a huff before charging once again, this time opting for a flurry of blows in this attack.

"Yeah right." Too easy. As he'd predicted, Mid-Boss was as much a loser as ever. Why did he keep charging at him like that? It made his moves so predictable and easy to follow. It was no trouble for Laharl to block and dodge the many blows, finally he'd had enough, hopping backwards and building some of his power.

He didn't want to waste too much energy on Vyers, but he built enough to give a good shot. Which he released, right towards Mid-Boss.

This one he was able to dodge, but he didn't look terribly happy about it. He knew, to some point, that Laharl would be able to use energy attacks on him. He knew it, and it just wasn't fair. Why couldn't he use anything here? (Or, rather, why couldn't he use anything of use?) That just...! No, no. He could fume over that later.

This time he dropped, swinging his leg around in an attempt to trip the boy up.

((Fffffff... Sorry took forever for me to get back to this. L-lol. W-we're Paixaoians. We don't mind backlogging. RIGHT?! /o/;;; XD;)

Vyers went low and Laharl simply leapt upwards and back, avoiding the swinging leg entirely. Meanwhile, he fished out his sword from his scarf. He had no intentions of fighting fair, obviously.

He then dashed suddenly forward, energy forming around the sword as he used one of the more simple sword moves, hoping to get a quick hit that might finish this.

((XDD Right! Not like we don't have a good idea how this will all end anyway.))

Vyers hadn't expected Laharl to play fair. He was a demon after all. As soon as he saw the sword, he scrambled to his feet to dodge the strike. Luckily for him, he was able to, although in a far, far less graceful way than he would have liked.

Ugh... how humiliating. His gaze flickered toward a nearby alley and immediately he began debating the merits of a tactical retreat.
