The crabs had abated with the heat, and the city was, for the moment, somewhat bearable. However, that didn't mean that it was completely safe -- the nasty little beasts still lurked in hidden corners, waiting to pounce upon unsuspecting victims. After the swarms of the previous week, however, exploring the city today was a cakewalk ( ... )

Rustling noises seemed to emanate from an alley about half a block from where Fred continued to stroll. It was just wishful thinking of course, he had come to accept the fact that even after he was freed from his cell, he would be alone.

But then came the shriek. It wasn't his mind toying with him, he wasn't that insane. A smile spread across his face and he began to slowly walk over to the source of the scream. Fred peeked his head around the corner just in time to see the final blow to...what was that? A monster, it must have been one of the creatures he had been warned about. He stepped forward to get a better view, accidentally kicking a trash can as he did so.

"Terribly sorry, I do hope I'm not interrupting anything. Good evening."

Goddamned crabs and their goddamned teeth and slime and legs -- Kanda was about tired of them. He ignored the barber for now, and turned his head to glance at his shoulders where the sharp little legs had gouged him. He'd sustained worse, but he cursed nonetheless, scowling as he jerked the sword from the belly of the dead creature; blackish, oily blood stained the blade and he wiped it casually against the sash at his waist.

But when he looked up at the man, he twitched and looked bewildered -- Kanda was no dainty innocent himself, but this guy just looked plain .. freaky.

"Who the fuck are you?" Kanda was not polite. And this wasn't anyone that Kanda recognized. He wasn't the type to seek people out of course, but he kept up rather well on the network, and this was a face that he would have remembered.

Fred locked his eyes onto the hair of the stranger in front of him. Could it really be...yes, it was tinted blue. Fascinating. He was saying something now, but Fred kept his gaze upon the others hair, even as he himself began to speak.

"My name is Fred, and I seem to have somehow gotten lost."

The stranger acted scared of him, but the look was so commonplace to Fred that he barely noticed. He smiled, because of both the excitement of finding a living being and the fear of him running away. Not that his smile was very comforting.

Oh yes, Fred's hair obsession would be well-placed on Kanda. Not only was it, yes, tinted blue, it was also very long and sleek and quite pretty despite the sour face of its owner.

Fred, huh? Why did Kanda always seem to come across the newcomers? It was his lot in life. Or was he a newcomer at all? Kanda shrugged and made a gruff sort of snorting sound as he shoved the sword back into its sheath at his waist. "Gotten lost?" he asked, narrowing his pale eyes, suspicious as always, but moreso now, considering Fred's rather .. creepy nature. "Where do you live?"

Fred's smile grew wider as he watched a small breeze blow the other man's hair ever so slightly in the wind. His fascination with it made him completely ignorant to the annoyance and now suspicion directed toward him.

"Yes, you see, I was simply sitting in my cell, and suddenly I found myself in this strange place." He explained it in a calm manner, as if he was only slightly irked by the fact he had just been transported to a completely new city. The huge smile stayed on his face the entire time, making his emotions even stranger to read.

Kanda was quite receptive to changes in demeanor and expression, so when Fred's eyes wandered to his hair, Kanda noticed it right away, and his pale eyes narrowed. What the hell was he staring at? This man certainly gave off some strange vibes.

"In your ... cell." he echoed, arching a fine dark brow before shaking his head. "Whatever. So you're new, too." Kanda's lip twitched, and he muttered under his breath: "Why the fuck do they always find me."

Fred thought his face may start to crack, his smile was so large. He took a few steps closer, hoping that even one strand of that long, soft hair might blow towards him, just brushing against his arm. Or maybe he could reach forward, running his hand through... Fred shivered at the thought.

"I...do you...get a lot of new people here?" Fred managed to say, flustered. He couldn't let himself come off too creepy, he needed to keep this guy near him.
"Where do the others reside? I...haven't seen anyone around."
