::daisychain week twenty-two::

One minute I'm in Central Park
Then I'm down on Delancey Street
From the Bow'ry to St Marks
There's a syncopated beat

Welcome to the first week of December, 2008.

During Week 22…

The city is still reeling from the success of killing Cloverfield last week, only to have that success completely overturned, and in the process suffer another mysterious missing day. Perhaps it's just good fortune that she chooses not to rampage: Mommy stays in her home at Central Park, but continues to roar and screech on and off for a day or two. It'll be difficult to sleep some nights with how much noise she makes. Anyone venturing close to Central Park may also hear strange noises that sound like massive tons of earth being shifted around.

But ironically enough, Clover is the least of anyone's worries. The crab population has doubled in size over the week, making the streets anything but safe. A few bold crabs even manage to break into peoples' homes. For their own safety, every citizen should take a weapon or an escort when going outdoors.

The effects of such a population explosion are obvious to the dozen characters bitten this week. The bitten include: Russel Tringham, Fran Madaraki, Ashe, Gin Ichimaru, Mitsuki Konishi, Seymour Guado, Rebecca Chambers, Kotarou Inugami, Yasutora "Chad" Sado, Souh Tamaki, Auron and Hoban "Wash" Washburne. As always, check the Monster FAQ or contact the mods if you've got any questions.

Even without the crabs running amok, Manhattan's citizens may not want to venture outside anyway. A storm rolls in on Tuesday night, and the city receives freezing rain for the rest of the week, punctuated by a very brief bout of hail on Friday. At the very least, the ice and rain washes away all of the dead animal smell along the shore, and the poison in the water dissipates.

Graffiti

In the wake of the events surrounding Mommy's "death" last week, the taggers have gone absolutely haywire. Tons of new graffiti springs up early in the week all over the city:

- MOMMY'S HOME appears all over the sidewalks around the NYU Medical Center.
- THE DOCTOR'S IN springs up all across Battery Park, parts of the western shore, and the docks where the Intrepid sank.
- Someone writes DON'T WAKE MOMMY in bold letters on the spot where Cloverfield's body once lay.
- The phrase MOMMY KNOWS BEST is scrawled across the doors and walls of Chelsea Market and a series of apartment complexes in the southern villages.
