The mods discussed this question in chat tonight and voted to keep the rule unchanged for the time being.

Although we like to encourage activity on the rpg board at every turn, we are fairly lenient about enforcing this rule. It's not our goal to breathe down people's backs and watch their every moves. The only time we pay attention to players' activity is during the activity checks once a month. As we count activity in the rpg community from the week leading up to the check and the week of the check, having a log within two weeks is basically the norm already. And remember that one and only one tag on the rpg comm is required to count toward checks, not whole threads or anything like that. Many players pull from backdated threads that are still going on, rather than trying to create new ones.

Our biggest concern with counting journals toward activity would be seeing less threads, as one mod mentioned was her experience in a different game that made this rule change. Daisychain is an action-oriented game. Characters directly interacting with one another and the environment is important. Players' subplots often influence our main plots. We would hate to lose that.

If you or any player is ever struggling to find a log during an activity check, we only ask to hear about it. We've excused players from checks for exactly that reason before.
