Also, I got a hair cut

This is not the well thought out opinion I promised earlier. The Courier Mail has not published anything to get my hackles up so far today, and I refuse to read the comments because they just make me weep for humanity. Scary, racist, sexist, stupid humanity. No, this post is a simple statement of fact.

The Government is not lying to us! We actually are not in a recession! If you are going to spend 30 minuted ranting at me about how it is all Kevin Rudd's fault, at least get the very basic facts of your argument right. A recession is 2 quarters of negative growth. What we are experiencing is an economic slow down, out economy is not growing as fast as it was. Admittedly, it acts a lot like a recession, but this does not make it one. It is not surprising. Even without the financial crisis, we were well overdue for this. Our economy has been growing ridiculously fast for a bit over a decade. Also, the slow down is a result of numerous factors, Labor's fiscal policy is but a drop in a bucket. Howard's policy has had a bigger impact, Bush's policy much more still. This is not a simple problem, it does not have a simple solution. To suggest that it does shows a deep misunderstanding of how the economy works. This is a global problem, all our current government can do is try to minimise the damage. Our economy is simply not strong enough to remain independent of the global climate. Only complete isolationism could achieve that, and that is not a road we really want to go down.

Okay, maybe that was a bit of an opinion by the end there.
