Life has been running at a frenetic pace this year - particularly with my promotion in January - so I recently decided to reconfigure my working hours so that I could spend more time at home and it seems to be working really well! I leave work at 2.30 (or thereabouts depending on the day) three times a week so am able to pick the boys up from school.
It is SO nice to spend more time with the boys - and we're making the most of James's final term before he moves up to grammar school and the inevitable influx of homework from then on! Today we made pizzas, had supper together, and then went out for a bike ride. It's been a glorious day today and we rode down through the village to the canal. The sun was starting to sink in the sky as we stood on the bridge and looked down the canal which was literally golden. There were hot air balloons in flight above us, horses were grazing in pasture nearby but other than that not a soul in sight. It was idyllic. And just a ten minute ride away from home.
On the way back we had a a ridiculous amount of fun freewheeling through puddles in the lane! It was really great.
boys,
